Maruti's second EV could deliver up to 500 km range. SUV-inspired electric MPV expected with Level 2 ADAS. Launch likely around mid-2027.
Maruti Suzuki is working on its second electric vehicle for India, and this time it will be a family-focused MPV. Internally codenamed YMC, the upcoming electric MPV has already been spotted testing and is expected to go on sale around mid-2027.
The new model is likely to offer a spacious cabin, modern features, and a claimed driving range of up to 500 km, making it one of Maruti's biggest EV launches after the e Vitara.
Unlike a traditional MPV, the upcoming Maruti EV is expected to have a more rugged look.
Spy shots suggest it will feature a tall front end, high ground clearance, and a strong shoulder line. Some design elements also appear to be inspired by the Maruti e Vitara, including the wheel arches and overall body shape.
The electric MPV is also expected to get stylish alloy wheels, LED lighting, and a bold road presence.

While the interior has not been revealed yet, reports suggest that the dashboard and cabin layout could be similar to the e Vitara.
The feature list is expected to include a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless phone charger, and a 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat.
Top variants are also likely to come with Level 2 ADAS, offering features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and automatic emergency braking.
Maruti is expected to offer the electric MPV with two battery pack choices.
The entry-level version could use a 49 kWh battery with a front-mounted electric motor producing 142 hp and 193 Nm of torque. It is expected to deliver a driving range of around 400 km.
A higher variant is likely to get a 61 kWh battery with a more powerful 172 hp motor. This version could offer a claimed driving range of up to 500 km on a full charge.
Both versions are expected to send power to the front wheels.
Once launched, the Maruti electric MPV will compete with the upcoming Kia Carens Clavis EV in India.
With its spacious cabin, practical layout, long driving range, and premium features, the new EV is expected to appeal to families looking to switch to electric mobility.
