New Maruti YMC EV Likely Debut at 2027 Bharat Mobility Global Expo

Maruti Suzuki to reveal a new EVat Indian Auto Expo 2027 It is likely to be a new 7-seater electric MPV, which will rival the Kia Carens Clavis EV

We reported earlier that Maruti Suzuki is planning to increase its EV portfolio to 4 model before the end of this financial year. The company is currently testing an all-new 7-seater electric MPV on the Indian roads, which is reportedly to be positioned against the Kia Carens Clavis EV. The new Maruti Suzuki EV is reportedly to be revealed next year at the 2027 Bharat Mobility Global Expo.

It is expected that the model to be revealed early next year will be the same 3-row MPV that has been spotted testing multiple times. The new MPV is also likely to preview design of the next Ertiga MPV. The new model could be positioned as an affordable alternative to the Carens Clavis EV in terms of pricing.

Codenamed YMC, this upcoming 3-row electric MPV will share its underpinnings with the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. It is likely to come with the same 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery pack options. However, the larger size could impact its realistic range. The electric motor and other powertrain components will also be shared with the e Vitara.

The spy images reveal that the electric MPV will have a large aero-optimised alloy wheels, and air intakes on the front bumper. Similar to the e Vitara, the 3-row EV could also get the active aero flaps. It will have an SUV-like appearance with very upright front and rear ends, along with an overall boxy silhouette. The electric MPV will have vertically stacked tail-lamps have some resemblance to the Ertiga’s design.

The new YMC electric MPV is expected to measure around 4.5 meters in length. It is likely to be offered with 6 and 7-seat layout with former having captain seats in the second row. It is likely to share most of its equipment with the e Vitara, including a large touchscreen infotainment unit, digital instrument console, powered and ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, rear AC vents and others.
