Baleno CNG AMT uses the same 1.2L Z-series petrol engine Delivers 34.47 km per kg of fuel efficiency, higher than the CNG MT
Maruti Suzuki has launched the AMT version of the CNG-powered Baleno hatchback at a starting price of Rs 8.32 lakh, ex-showroom. The new engine-gearbox combination is available in the Delta and Zeta trims. It is packed with the same 1.2L 3-cylinder Z-Series engine, but offers a higher fuel efficiency than the CNG-manual version.
The Maruti Baleno CNG is powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine paired with a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT). This engine produces 70 hp and 102 Nm in CNG mode, respectively. The CNG AMT is claimed to offer a certified fuel economy of 34.47 km per kg, which is 0.86 km per kg higher than the CNG-MT version.
It was speculated that the Baleno will get an underbody CNG tank that debuted with the Victoris in 2025. In fact, the similar setup will also be offered with the Wagon R facelift. The Baleno gets the traditional CNG fitment inside the boot, and with the spare wheel, the boot space is negligeable.
The CNG variants get a dedicated fuel change switch and CNG-specific instrumentation. The Baleno is now available with petrol MT, petrol AMT, CNG MT and CNG AMT powertrain options.
In the premium hatchback segment, Tata Altroz gets a CNG-AMT option. It is packed with twin cylinder CNG tank, fitted in the boot, offering a usable 210-litres of luggage space.
