The new Maruti Suzuki Swift comes with several tech features, which were missing in the previous model. It has a new 9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. This system is also available in other Maruti Suzuki cars like Fronx, Baleno and the Grand Vitara. With the new Swift, MSIL has added an LED lighting system, 6 airbags, wireless phone charging, automatic air conditioning, cruise control and many more.

Maruti Suzuki Swift: Exterior

It is based on the heavily modified HEARTECT platform, which also underpins the Baleno and Fronx. Dimensionally, the hatchback is 3,860mm long, 1,735mm wide and 1,520mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,450mm. The new model is 15mm longer than the previous car; however, the width and height are reduced by 40mm and 30mm, respectively. The compact hatchback has a luggage space of 265-litres, which can be extended by folding the second-row seat.

The new Swift retains the overall silhouette, as it features a more evolved styling. It comes with several new design elements to keep things fresh in the market. The hatchback has a sharper front fascia that now has a smaller grille and newly styled LED Headlamps. The rear handles are placed in a conventional position. The previous model has C-pillar mounted door handles. It comes with an LED lighting system, featuring LED DRLs, LED headlamps, LED fog lights and LED tail-lights. The tall-boy hatchback gets blacked-out wing mirrors and 15-inch dual-tone machined-cut alloy wheels.

The new hatchback comes with all-black interior scheme with contrasting silver treatment across the dashboard and steering wheel. It features a twin-pod analogue instrument console with a coloured 4.2-inch TFT MID (Multi-Information Display), and a leather-wrapped flat bottom steering wheel. There is a large free-standing touchscreen infotainment unit, which is claimed to offer better user interface and connectivity than the 7-inch unit. Other features include cruise control, automatic AC, A- C-type charging slots, a multi-functional steering wheel and powered ORVMs.

For safety and security, the Swift hatchback gets dual front airbags, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic BrakeForce Distribution (EBD), reversing camera, hill hold assist, ISOFIX anchorage points and seatbelt reminder.

The Swift hatchback is available in 12 variants. The Maruti Suzuki Swift price in India starts at Rs 6.49 lakh, which goes up to Rs 9.45 lakh for the top-end variant (ex-showroom).

Maruti Suzuki Swift: Engine Specifications

The Swift hatchback is powered by a new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine, which debuted in the global-spec model earlier this year. This Z-series powertrain churns out 80.46bhp of power and 111Nm of peak torque. This is 8hp and 1Nm less compared to the previous K-Series engine. Manual and Automatic choices include a 5-speed manual and an AMT.

The new Suzuki Swift is claimed to offer an ARAI certified fuel economy of 25.72kmpl, which is an improvement of over 3kmpl compared to the older model.
