Suzuki Swift Sport returns after two years with sportier design and wider stance. 1.4L turbo mild-hybrid engine produces 148 hp with optional AWD. Sporty interior and performance upgrades make it a fun hot hatch globally.
Suzuki’s popular Swift Sport is set to make a comeback after nearly two years. The hot hatch will be based on the fourth-generation Swift, which is currently sold in India. According to a report from Japanese publication Best Car Web, the all-new Swift Sport is expected to debut towards the end of this year. The launch has been delayed compared to earlier plans, but fans can expect a sportier and more dynamic version this time.
The next-gen Swift Sport will feature a wider track and increased body width, giving it a more aggressive and appealing stance compared to the regular Swift. Suzuki is also expected to improve the car’s rigidity and suspension setup, aiming for better handling and a more engaging driving experience.
The exterior will likely stand out with a more aggressive front grille, front-lip spoiler, side skirts, 17-inch alloy wheels, exposed dual exhausts, and a rear diffuser. Inside, the Swift Sport could get semi-bucket seats, metallic pedals, and exclusive trims and upholstery to match its sporty theme.

Powering the all-new Swift Sport is a 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with 48-volt mild-hybrid technology. This engine produces 148 hp and 240 Nm of torque, which is slightly higher than the outgoing model’s 138 hp and 230 Nm.
Customers will have the choice between a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission. While the previous Swift Sport was FWD-only, the new generation may offer an optional AWD system according to the Japanese report.
Performance figures are expected to be exciting, with a 0-100 km/h acceleration in under eight seconds and a top speed of around 210 km/h.
Maruti Suzuki has never sold the Swift Sport in India, and it is unlikely that the next generation will come here either. The limited demand and the lack of local production for the 1.4-litre turbo engine make it a tough business case.
In Japan, the next-gen Swift Sport is expected to cost between 2.3-2.5 million yen (roughly Rs 13.3-14.5 lakh).
