Tata Safari EV expected to launch in India by late 2026 Up to 75kWh battery with around 500km real-world range Dual-motor AWD and three-screen cabin expected
Tata Motors is preparing to expand its electric SUV range with the new Safari EV, which is expected to arrive in India towards the end of 2026. The upcoming electric SUV will mark Tata’s entry into the three-row family EV segment and is expected to combine a large battery with an all-wheel-drive option and a technology-focused cabin.
The Tata Safari EV will be based on a heavily re-engineered version of the acti.ev+ architecture used by the Harrier EV. It is expected to offer both single-motor front-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive configurations.
The Safari EV is expected to get a dual-motor setup for the AWD variants. This configuration will provide power to all four wheels and is likely to offer stronger performance and better traction. A single-motor FWD version is also expected to be available. This should make the Safari EV accessible in multiple variants, while the AWD version will be positioned as the more powerful option.

The upcoming Tata Safari EV is expected to use 65kWh and 75kWh battery packs, similar to the options offered with the Harrier EV. Tata is expected to target a real-world driving range of around 500km on a single charge. The larger 75kWh battery is likely to deliver the best range, although the AWD version could have a slightly lower range due to its additional motor and higher weight.
The Safari EV is also expected to get a high-tech cabin with a triple-screen layout. The setup is expected to include a 12.3-inch central touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a separate 12.3-inch passenger display. This will give the electric SUV a more premium cabin compared with the current Safari. The feature list is also expected to include Level 2 ADAS, ventilated and powered front seats and ventilated second-row captain seats.
The Safari EV is expected to come with several convenience and technology features. These could include a gesture-controlled powered tailgate, along with vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities. The V2L system could allow the SUV to power external electrical devices, while V2V charging could allow compatible EVs to share energy.
The Tata Safari EV launch 2026 is expected to take place towards the end of the year, with October-November currently being the expected timeline. The electric SUV could be priced between Rs 22 lakh and Rs 32 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the variant and battery configuration.
