Toyota's Upcoming Cars - Petrol, Hybrid and Electric Models Coming in 2027

Innova Hycross facelift expected in early 2027. Next-gen Fortuner could arrive in the first half of 2027. Toyota electric MPV may offer up to 525 km of range.

Toyota is preparing to introduce three new models in India in 2027. The upcoming lineup is expected to include the facelifted Innova Hycross, the next-generation Fortuner and an all-electric three-row MPV. These models will cover different segments, with petrol, petrol-hybrid and fully electric powertrain options expected across the range.

The new launches could strengthen Toyota's position in India's premium SUV and MPV segments while expanding its electric vehicle portfolio. Here is what to expect from the three upcoming Toyota models.

1. Toyota Innova Hycross Facelift

The Toyota Innova Hycross facelift is expected to launch in early 2027. The updated MPV could receive noticeable exterior changes and new features inside the cabin. Spy shots suggest that the facelifted model could get a redesigned front end inspired by the ninth-generation Toyota Hilux. Expected changes include sleeker headlamps, a new radiator grille, revised front fog lamps, updated bumpers, fresh alloy wheel designs and tweaked tail lamps. The cabin could also receive new trim and upholstery options. Feature additions may include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and higher-capacity USB Type-C charging ports.

Expected Engine and Hybrid Powertrain

No major mechanical changes are expected with the Innova Hycross facelift. Toyota is likely to continue offering the existing 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and 2.0-litre petrol-electric strong-hybrid powertrain. The hybrid version should continue to appeal to customers looking for better fuel efficiency, while the regular petrol variant will provide another option within the lineup. The updated MPV is expected to retain its spacious three-row cabin and family-focused layout.

2. Next-Generation Toyota Fortuner

The third-generation Toyota Fortuner is expected to arrive in India during the first half of 2027. Its global debut is scheduled for December 1, 2026, ahead of its anticipated India launch. The new Fortuner is expected to receive a major design overhaul. Its front fascia could take inspiration from the ninth-generation Hilux, featuring a redesigned grille and updated lighting elements. The cabin could also get a more modern layout with improved technology.

Expected Features and Diesel Engine

The next-generation Fortuner could receive a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, electric power steering, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and a panoramic sunroof. On the mechanical front, the SUV is expected to retain engine and transmission options similar to those of the current model. Its four-wheel-drive system could also continue, although Toyota has yet to confirm the final specifications. The new Fortuner is likely to remain focused on customers looking for a large, rugged SUV with off-road capability and modern features.

3. Toyota's Upcoming Electric MPV

Toyota is also expected to launch an all-electric three-row MPV in India in the second half of 2027. The upcoming model is likely to be a corporate cousin of Maruti Suzuki's electric MPV, currently known by the codename YMC. Once launched, it could compete with the Kia Carens Clavis EV. Its three-row layout is expected to make it an option for families looking for an electric vehicle with more seating space. The Toyota electric MPV is expected to feature a single-motor front-wheel-drive setup and could be offered in two powertrain configurations.

Expected Battery Options and Driving Range

The entry-level version could produce 142 hp and 193 Nm of torque, paired with a 48.8 kWh LFP battery pack. The higher-spec version is expected to develop 172 hp and 193 Nm of torque, using a larger 61.1 kWh LFP battery pack. The top variant could offer a claimed driving range of around 525 km on a single charge. However, these figures are based on expected specifications and have not yet been officially confirmed by Toyota. The new electric MPV could become an important addition to Toyota's India lineup as demand for electric family vehicles grows.
