Tata Motors to launch Safari EV in 2026 Mahindra BE 07 launch expected in early 2027
The Indian electric PV market is set to enter its most aggressive yet as market leaders Tata Motors and Mahindra prepare their flagship multi-row and midsize EV offerings. These two SUVs will represent two fundamentally different engineering philosophies, the Tata Safari EV adapting an iconic ICE platform for electrifications and the BE 07 building on a dedicated “born-electric” architecture.

The Safari EV will mark the brand’s entry in the 3-row family SUV category. Built on the heavily re-engineered acti.ev+ platform architecture that also underpins the Harrier EV, the Tata Safari EV blends familiar road presence with zero-emission performance.
Dual-Motor All-Wheel Drive: Similar to the Harrier EV and Sierra EV, the upcoming Tata Safari EV will come with both single-motor (FWD) and dual-motor (AWD) configurations.
Real-World Range: It is expected to be offered with the same 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery packs, which are available with the Harrier EV. The company will be targeting a real-world driving range of around 500 km on a single charge.
Premium Tech: It will come with a triple screen layout comprising a 12.3-inch central touchscreen infotainment, a 10.25-inch digital instrument console and a dedicated 12.3-inch co-occupant entertainment screen. Some of the key features include Level 2 ADAS, gesture-controlled powered tailgate, ventilated and powered front seats, ventilated second-row captains eats, and vehicle-to-load (V2L)/ Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities.
Expected Launch & Price: it is expected to be launched in late 2026, around October-November. We expect the new Safari EV to cost somewhere between Rs 22 lakh to Rs 32 lakh.
It will be Mahindra’s fourth Born-electric SUV based on the modular INGLO skateboard platform. This model drops the coupe-like roofline seen on the BE 06 in favour of a traditional upright family SUV silhouette. The SUV will have a wheelbase of 2775mm, which translates into a spacious cabin. It will have a triple screen dashboard layout, a panoramic sunroof, advanced ADAS capabilities, frameless doors, flush-fitting door handles and dual-zone climate control.
The Mahindra BE 07 is likely to be offered with three battery choices - 59 kWh, 70 kWh and 79 kWh with a rear-axle-mounted electric motor. The company could offer a dual-motor AWD setup. The higher-spec variant will have a realistic range of around 500km on a single charge. Using a 175 kW DC fast charger, the 79 kWh battery can attain 10% to 80% top up in roughly 30 minutes.
