Thanks to GST reforms, auto sector in India is anticipating a sharp rise in vehicle sales. In fact, Maruti Suzuki has reported a sharp rise in vehicle bookings and deliveries ahead of the festive season. Since the reduction in GST rates, bookings for Maruti Suzuki cars have nearly doubled.
Maruti Suzuki is now receiving an average of around 18,000 bookings per day, which earlier stood at about 10,000 units. In fact, Maruti’s small cars have benefitted the most in the recent GST cuts. The sales of Maruti Suzuki small cars have doubled, while the growth in metro cities is around 35-40 per cent. The Government of India has slashed GST rates to 18 per cent from 29-31 per cent on sub-4 meter cars with petrol engines under 1200cc capacity and diesel engines under 1500cc capacity. Vehicles above 4 meters saw marginal relief with GST rates now stands at straight 40 percent compared to the earlier 43-50 percent.
In a bid to further boost sales, Maruti Suzuki is planning to introduce new financing schemes. The customers will be able to purchase an entry-level Maruti car with easy EMI of 1,999 per month. This scheme will attract entry-level car buyers in India. Adding to it, various schemes and discounts are introduced to attract car buyers in India further.
