Maruti Suzuki is preparing a major update for the Brezza in 2026. Recent spy shots have revealed fresh details about the petrol variant, including what looks like an all-new 6-speed manual gearbox. This could be a first not just for the Brezza, but for Maruti’s current lineup in India.
Earlier test models had already confirmed that the 2026 Brezza will get the brand’s new underbody S-CNG layout. Now, attention has shifted to the petrol version, which may bring big mechanical upgrades.
Spy images suggest that the test vehicle is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission. Currently, all Maruti cars in India use 5-speed manual gearboxes.
There were reports in the past that Maruti planned to introduce 6-speed manual units across its range, but that never happened. With the 2026 Brezza, that plan may finally become reality.
A 6-speed manual gearbox can improve highway cruising, fuel efficiency and overall driving comfort. It also makes the SUV more competitive in the compact SUV segment.

Another big update could be the introduction of a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine. Maruti already offers a 1.2L turbo engine in models like the Maruti Suzuki Swift and Maruti Suzuki Dzire, but those are paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
If the Brezza gets this turbo engine along with a 6-speed manual, it could offer better performance while still staying under the 1200cc GST bracket. This would help Maruti price the SUV competitively against rivals that offer turbo-petrol options.
Currently, the Brezza comes with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 99 bhp and 137.1 Nm. The CNG version makes 87 bhp and 121.5 Nm. A turbo option would make the Brezza more powerful and appealing.
The latest spy shots also show a larger infotainment screen. The current model gets a 9-inch touchscreen, but the 2026 Brezza may feature a 10.1-inch unit.
Other feature upgrades may include ventilated seats and new interior trims. These updates could make the cabin feel more premium and modern.
The 2026 Brezza CNG variant will adopt Maruti’s new underbody S-CNG setup. This design places the CNG tank under the floor instead of inside the boot.
This change improves boot space and practicality. However, the spare wheel may not be available in the CNG version due to space constraints.
Several near-production test vehicles have been spotted, some with very little camouflage. This suggests that the 2026 Maruti Brezza launch could happen soon.
If Maruti introduces the 6-speed manual gearbox and the 1.2L turbo petrol engine, this could be one of the biggest mechanical updates for the Brezza in recent years.
