Maruti Baleno could get the brand’s first factory-fitted CNG-AMT setup. ADAS and ventilated front seats are also expected. The Baleno facelift is scheduled to launch on September 5, 2026.
Maruti Suzuki is preparing to give the Baleno a major update, with the facelift expected to bring several new features and a new powertrain option. One of the biggest changes could be the introduction of a CNG-AMT combination, making the Baleno potentially the first Maruti Suzuki car to offer a factory-fitted CNG automatic setup.
The 2026 Maruti Baleno facelift is scheduled to launch in India on September 5, 2026. Along with the new CNG-AMT option, the premium hatchback is expected to get ADAS and ventilated front seats.
Maruti Suzuki currently does not sell a factory-fitted CNG car with an automatic transmission in India. The company's existing S-CNG models, including the Ertiga, WagonR, Baleno and Fronx, are offered with manual gearboxes. The updated Baleno could change that with the introduction of a CNG engine paired with an AMT gearbox.
The CNG-AMT setup is expected to be offered on the Delta and Zeta variants, while the top-spec Alpha trim is likely to remain available with petrol only. This combination could make the Baleno more appealing to buyers who want the lower running costs of CNG without having to drive a manual car. It could also be particularly useful for those who spend most of their time driving in busy city traffic.

The Baleno facelift is also expected to get ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) for the first time. If introduced, the Baleno could become the first premium hatchback in India to offer ADAS technology. The system could include features such as lane assistance, adaptive cruise control and other driver assistance functions. The final list of ADAS features is yet to be confirmed.
Maruti Suzuki is also expected to add ventilated front seats to the updated Baleno. This feature could improve comfort during hot weather, especially for buyers who regularly drive in India's warmer regions. The cabin could also get a refreshed dual-tone theme and new upholstery. However, the overall dashboard layout is expected to remain similar to the current Baleno.
The Baleno facelift is not expected to receive a completely new design. Instead, Maruti Suzuki could make a few changes to give the hatchback a fresher look. These could include a new front grille, redesigned bumpers and a new alloy wheel design. New exterior colour options could also be introduced. The overall body shape, headlamp design and tail-lamp layout are expected to remain largely unchanged.
The 2026 Maruti Baleno facelift is scheduled to launch in India on September 5. With additional features and the new CNG-AMT option, the updated model is expected to command a slight price increase over the current version. The Baleno will continue to compete with the Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz in the premium hatchback segment.
If Maruti Suzuki introduces the CNG-AMT setup as expected, it could become the biggest highlight of the facelift. It would also give buyers a new choice in the CNG market, combining lower running costs with the convenience of an automatic gearbox.
