2026 Maruti Baleno facelift gets Swift’s Z-Series petrol engine. It could become the first Maruti car with a CNG-AMT option. ADAS and ventilated seats are expected feature additions.
Maruti Suzuki is preparing to launch the 2026 Baleno facelift in India on September 5. The updated premium hatchback will bring several important changes, including a new petrol engine, CNG automatic option and advanced safety features.
The Baleno facelift will continue to compete in the premium hatchback segment against rivals like the Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz. With the update, Maruti Suzuki aims to add more technology and improve the overall appeal of its popular hatchback.
The biggest change on the 2026 Baleno facelift will be under the hood. The hatchback will adopt the Swift’s Z-Series three-cylinder petrol engine. The same engine will also be available with a factory-fitted CNG option. While the exact power figures are expected to be announced at launch, the new engine will replace the existing petrol unit. The Z-Series engine is already available in the latest Swift and is known for improved efficiency and refinement.

One of the biggest highlights of the updated Baleno will be the introduction of a CNG-AMT combination. Currently, Maruti Suzuki offers CNG models with manual transmissions only. With the Baleno facelift, the company is expected to introduce an automated manual transmission with CNG for the first time. The CNG-AMT option is likely to be offered on the mid-spec Delta and Zeta variants. The top-spec Alpha trim is expected to remain available only with petrol.
The 2026 Baleno facelift is expected to receive advanced safety technology with the addition of ADAS features. If introduced, the Baleno will become the first premium hatchback in India to offer ADAS technology. The system could include features such as lane assistance, adaptive cruise control and other driver support functions. Another major addition will be ventilated front seats, improving comfort for occupants during hot weather conditions. The cabin is also expected to get a refreshed dual-tone interior theme and new upholstery, while the dashboard layout will largely remain unchanged.
The design changes on the Baleno facelift are expected to be limited but noticeable. The updated hatchback could receive a revised front grille, redesigned bumpers and a new alloy wheel pattern. Maruti Suzuki may also introduce new exterior colour options. The overall shape, headlamp design and tail-lamp layout are expected to remain similar to the current model.
The 2026 Maruti Baleno facelift will launch in India on September 5. The updated model is expected to command a slight price increase over the current version due to the added features and new powertrain options. The Baleno will continue to rival the Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz in the premium hatchback segment.
