Maruti Suzuki to Boost SUV Lineup with Next-Gen Direct-Injection Turbo Engine
Suzuki has a new direct-injection turbo engine for India Called DITC, the engine will power its future vehicles Hybrids and Plug-in Hybrids confirmed
Suzuki Motor Corporation is developing multiple new age powertrains for its growth markets, including India. The company has officially announced a new Series Hybrid Electric Vehicle and Range Extenders hybrid with plug-in capabilities. Moreover, Suzuki is developing a new direct-injection turbocharged engine, which is claimed to offer stronger performance along with lower fuel consumption.
In its technology briefing, Suzuki Motor Corporation referred to the new engine as DITC. The company said that it is one of the technologies Suzuki is preparing for future vehicles. However, the company hasn't released the engine's specifications or model it will be offered with.
Suzuki stated, "We are also developing DITC, a next-generation direct-injection turbo engine that combines high efficiency with powerful driving, for growth markets such as India."
The Japanese automaker is looking to widen its new age powertrains, including hybrids and electric vehicles. The company is aiming to develop different powertrains for different markets based on local energy supply, infrastructure and customer needs. Additionally, Maruti Suzuki is also improving the efficiency of petrol engines along with investment for the CNG and biogas.
In India, CNG vehicles account for about 40% of sales. Driving 10000 km per year, a CNG vehicle emits about 155 kg less CO2 than a gasoline vehicle and cuts fuel costs by about 40%. Suzuki stated that "CBG, produced from sources such as cow dung, allows progress toward carbon neutrality while using existing CNG vehicles and infrastructure as they are.'
Building on the latest Z12E, Suzuki is expanding the current 40% thermal efficiency range and challenging ourselves toward 50% thermal efficiency beyond that.
