JSW Motors patented the Chery iCaur V23 electric SUV It will be assembled at the JSW Motors Greenfield facility in Maharashtra
JSW Motors is set to begin its independent journey as a passenger vehicle maker in the Indian automotive market. The company will initially import China-based Chery Automobile, which will be locally assembled at its upcoming Greenfield facility in Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra.
JSW Motors has been registering multiple Chery models, and the latest patent is for the iCaur V23 electric SUV. The latest patent reveals key design elements, including a rectangular-shaped front grille, circular headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lamps, flared wheel arches, and pronounced front bumper. Other design highlights include blacked-out wing mirrors, black treatment for the front fenders, dual-tone alloy wheels, and rectangular inserts between the C-and D-pillars.

Inside the cabin, the iCaur V23 gets a large rectangular-shaped 15.4-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, and a traditional driver’s display. It is packed with a 3-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls. There are rotary dials for drive mode, audio and climate controls. This 5-seater lifestyle electric SUV comes with leatherette upholstery, ventilated front seats, a 7-speaker sound system, climate control system, heated ORVMs and rain sensing wipers.
For safety and security, the SUV gets 6 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), hill-hold assist (HHA), hill descent control (HDC), front and rear parking sensors, a 540-degree surround view camera, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), inbuilt dashcam and an electronic parking brake with auto-hold. It also gets LEVEL-2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) with active features like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane assist and others.
In the international market, the Chery iCaur V23 is offered with 81.76 kWh and 59.93 kWh battery packs with 4WD and 2WD drivetrains. While the former offers 430km of range, the smaller battery version delivers 360km on a single charge. The bigger battery version with dual electric motors offers 201bhp and 292Nm, the smaller battery with 2WD drivetrain offers 134bhp and 180Nm.
