Hyundai will launch an India-specific electric SUV during the festive season this year. The next-gen Creta could get a strong-hybrid powertrain in 2027. More new Hyundai SUVs, including the Bayon, are planned for India.
Hyundai is preparing a major expansion of its India lineup, with several new models and major updates planned over the next few years. The company has mapped out 26 new launches and major model updates for India, covering electric, hybrid and conventional powertrains. The upcoming portfolio will include a new India-specific electric SUV, the next-generation Creta, more SUVs and potentially Hyundai’s first full-hybrid model for the Indian market.
The first major model in Hyundai’s new product plan will be an India-specific electric SUV, which is expected to arrive during the festive season this year. The SUV will be developed specifically for the Indian market and will target a high-volume segment. Hyundai has confirmed that the new EV will feature its next-generation Pleos-based infotainment technology along with Level 2 assisted driving functions. Reports suggest that the electric SUV could be offered with two battery pack options, with a claimed driving range of more than 500km. More details about its specifications and pricing are expected closer to the launch.

The fourth-generation Hyundai Creta is another key model in the company's future India lineup. The new SUV is already under development and is expected to arrive in early 2027. One of the biggest changes could be the addition of a strong-hybrid powertrain alongside conventional engine options. If Hyundai goes ahead with the hybrid version, the next-gen Creta could become the company's first full-hybrid model in India. The new Creta will continue to play an important role in Hyundai's midsize SUV portfolio as the company prepares to offer more electrified powertrain options.
Hyundai is also expected to bring the Bayon to India. The SUV will sit between the Venue and Creta in the company's lineup, giving Hyundai another option in the growing compact SUV space. The Bayon is already part of Hyundai's global portfolio, while its India introduction would help the company strengthen its SUV range across multiple price points.
Hyundai is also working on another midsize SUV with conventional ICE powertrains as part of its India product plan. The model will sit alongside the Creta and is expected to give the company a stronger presence in one of India's most competitive SUV segments. Details about its design, engines and launch timeline have not been revealed yet. However, the upcoming model is expected to be part of Hyundai's wider push to offer more choices across petrol, hybrid and electric powertrains.
Another model that could join Hyundai's future India portfolio is a three-row SUV, reportedly being developed under the codename Ni1i. The model could help Hyundai strengthen its presence in the three-row SUV segment, which has seen growing competition in India. However, Hyundai has not yet confirmed the model's final name or launch timeline.
