Next-gen Creta to debut in early 2027 It will get Pleos Connect infotainment unit Spy shots reveal boxy silhouette
The next-generation Hyundai Creta has been caught undergoing high-load testing in Europe. Instead of heavy boxy cladding, the new prototype was caught testing in a thin vinyl wrap. Caught during towing validation runs in Europe, the latest spy images gives use the clearest view yet of Hyundai’s new-generation Creta (which will also be sold as new Kona in select international markets).

Moving away from soft curves, the 2027 Hyundai Creta adopts a boxy silhouette with a more upright, squared-off profile. Inspired by the Crater Concept, the new midsize SUV will be based on Hyundai’s latest “Art of Steel” global design philosophy. Upfront is an imposing vertical nose with a parametric grille, flanked by ultra-thin, high-mounted Horizon LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps) and a split projector headlamp cluster.
The SUV has high shoulder lines, pronounced wheel arches, dual-tone alloy wheels, and a flatter roofline that adds to its boxier styling. At the back, the new Creta will have a clean tailgate complemented by a prominent roof spoiler and full-width connected LED tail-lamps.
The next Creta will come with all-new cabin, which will be high on connected tech and luxury. Built around Hyundai’s Pleos software platform, the Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) will come with a large free-standing touchscreen infotainment unit and a slim digital instrument cluster along with Head-Up Display or HUD. The infotainment unit will run on optimised UI software with over-the-air (OTA) capabilities and advanced AI voice commands.
The previous spy shots reveal that the new Hyundai Creta will get rear-passenger electric seat controls (Boss Mode) to slide the front passenger seat forward, alongside dynamic ambient lighting and premium interior trim materials. It will come with an upgraded LEVEL 2 ADAS suite featuring Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Change Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control and others.

Hyundai is preparing a multi-powertrain strategy to cater to both traditional as well as performance-efficiency buyers.
Same powertrains: it will continue to be offered with the 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, and 1.5-litre CRDi diesel engines. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual, CVT, torque converter, and 7-speed DCT unit.
Strong-Hybrid Engine: the next-gen Creta will debut Hyundai’s new strong hybrid powertrain, which is likely to use the existing 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, NA petrol engine, an electric motor and a small battery pack. Hyundai would be aiming to target the fuel economy of around 25kmpl.
Global-spec Model with Electric All-Wheel-Drive (AWD): the global-spec model will share the powertrain with the Kia Seltos hybrid on sale in Europe. It will use the 1.6-litre strong hybrid engine, which is likely to debut an e-AWD system featuring a dedicated electric motor on the rear axle.
The next-generation Hyundai Creta will make its global debut in early 2027. It is likely to be launched sometime in the first half of 2027 in India. The SUV will rival the likes of the Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Tata Sierra, Renault Duster and others.
