New Hyundai Bayon Vs Creta: Should I Wait or Buy Now

New Hyundai Bayon measures 4.2 meters in length Bayon gets 1.5L NA and CNG options, while Creta gets petrol and diesel engine options

The Korean automaker has officially revealed the India-spec Hyundai Bayon, which is scheduled to be launched in the country on October 26, 2026. Positioned directly between the sub-4-meter Venue and the midsize Creta, the Bayon is based on Hyundai's "Art of Syeel" design language, and features advanced AI tech, and a tech-heavy cabin.

This positioning leaves prospective buyers at a crossroad: Should you book the new Hyundai Bayon or go ahead with the proven Hyundai Creta right now? To answer this question, we bring you a detailed comparison of design, features, powertrains and space.

Design & Dimensions

Hyundai Bayon: The midsize SUV measures 4245mm in length, 1810mm in width and 1565mm in tall, with a wheelbase of 2600mm. It adopts a lower, sleeker crossover silhouette with futuristic design elements inspired from bigger Hyundai's including the new Tucson. It features sharp body lines, ultra-slim LED daytime running lights connected by a gloss-black strip, and up to 18-inch alloy wheels.

Hyundai Creta: Measuring 4.3 meters in length, the Creta carries a classic, boxy and upright SUV stance. The country's best-selling midsize SUV offers a higher driving position, prominent road presence, and greater overall cabin width and height.

The Creta, on the other hand, has established luxury and comfort features such as dual-zone climate control, power adjustable seats with memory functions, and plus rear-seat cushioning.

Powertrain & Performance

Hyundai Bayon: It is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated MPi petrol engine that produces 115 PS and 144 Nm of torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual or an IVT automatic. It is also expected to get a factory-fitted underbody CNG tank.

Hyundai Creta: This midsize SUV offers multiple powertrain options, including:

1.5L Petrol: 115 PS and 144 Nm, paired either with 6MT and IVT

1.5L Turbo Petrol: 160 PS and 253 Nm, 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT)

1.5L Diesel: 116 PS and 250 Nm, 6MT and 6AT

Safety & Platform

Hyundai Bayon: It is built on Hyundai's Global K Enhanced Platform, which is engineered to meet 5-star crash safety standards. The SUV is packed with LEVEL 2 ADAS, 6 airbags, ESC and TPMS.

Hyundai Creta: The SUV is based on the K2 platform, and has secured 3 star Global NCAP crash test rating. It is equipped with Level-2 ADAS, 360-degree cameras, 6 airbags standard, and a suite of active safety electronics.

Verdict: Should You Wait or Buy Now?

Hyundai Bayon

Wait for Hyundai Bayon if you want advanced cabin tech, as it has dual 12.3-inch curved screens and Generative AI voice system. If your usage is strictly urban commute, as the 1.5L NA petrol engine paired with an IVT gearbox delivers a smooth and effortless drive in city traffic.

Wait for Bayon if you want a premium SUV without paying extra for Creta, as it offers high-end tech, ADAS, and a panoramic sunroof at a lower entry price point. The Bayon is the only Hyundai above 4 meters to offer a factory-fitted CNG kit.

Hyundai Creta

Buy the Creta if you need maximum rear seat space and premium cabin experience, which make it better suited for long family road trips and five passenger comfort.

The Creta also offers diesel and turbo-petrol engine options, which makes it a good option for people looking at power or high torque model for highway cruising. Moreover, the Creta offers traditional SUV proportions.
