Volkswagen Taigun Overview
Volkswagen Taigun is a compact SUV offering that is developed for India on a reworked MQB A0 IN platform. The new vehicle is currently in its first generation and was originally showcased as the T-Cross Concept during the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo.
Volkswagen Taigun: Exterior
The exterior design of the new Volkswagen Taigun is unmistakably a VW with its chic and contemporary sheet metal design. Upfront, the four-wheeler offers a vertical chrome grille flanked by sweptback LED headlamp units. Lower down there is a large air dam and new LED fog lamps units along with generous use of chrome.
Moving to the side, we get to see a strong shoulder line and short overhangs. In addition, the car also provides 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels and thick black body cladding all around.
Towards the rear, the vehicle gets a distinctive tailgate with a connected LED tail lamp bar and faux skid plate to complete the overall SUV look.
Volkswagen Taigun: Interior and Features
Interior: Moving to the inside, the New Volkswagen Taigun gets a modern looking dashboard design. The overall cabin provides a rich mix of materials from soft plastic to leatherette for the seats. The seats are large and comfortable giving a good view of the road in front.
Features: The 2023 Taigun gets features such as a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, auto climate control, 6 speakers, an electric sunroof among others.
Safety: In terms of safety, the Taigun gets 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control, ABS with EBD, hill-hold control, ISOFIX child seat mounts, multi collision brakes, tyre pressure deflation warning, and more as basic equipment.
Volkswagen Taigun: Price and Variants
Volkswagen Taigun’s price in India starts from Rs 11.70 lakh and extends all the way up to Rs 19.74 lakh (ex-showroom). The model is available in 13 variants namely Comfortline, Highline, and Topline with a choice of both manual and automatic transmissions.
Volkswagen Taigun: Engine and Specification
Volkswagen Taigun comes powered by two turbo-petrol powertrain options; a 1.0-litre engine (112 bhp/178 Nm) and a 1.5-litre engine (147 bhp/250 Nm). Both power plant options are paired to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard.
As for the automatic gearbox, the smaller engine is available with a 6-speed torque converter while the bigger unit gets a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic stick.
The New Volkswagen Taigun measures 4,221 mm in length, 1,760 mm in width, and 1,612 mm in height having a wheelbase of 2,651 mm. The car gets a large 50-litre fuel tank and 17-inch alloy wheels.

The Taigun delivers an ARAI Certified mileage between the range of 17.88 to 20.08 kmpl. In the case of the manual it gives 20.08 kmpl while the automatic returns a fuel efficiency figure of 18.41 kmpl.
