Volkswagen Taigun GT Line, GT Plus Sport Launched

In a bid to improve sales, Volkswagen has launched the Taigun GT Line and GT Plus Sport trims in the Indian market. While the GT Line variant is priced at Rs 14.08 lakh, the Taigun GT Plus Sport is available at a starting price of Rs 18.53 lakh (ex-showroom).  Variant-Wise Prices VW Taigun GT Line MT - Rs 14.08 Lakh VW Taigun GT Line AT - Rs 15.63 Lakh VW Taigun GT Plus Sport MT - Rs 18.54 Lakh VW Taigun GT Plus Sport AT - 19.74 Lakh These black-themed special editions are positioned under the 'Sport' trim level. The GT Plus variant comes with a carbon steel grey roof with red 'GT' badging on the tailgate, front grille and fender. Instead of the carbon steel grey roof & red GT badging, the GT Line variant gets these additions in black finish. The new Taigun GT Line and GT Plus Sport variants ride on 17-inch 'Cassino' blacked-out alloy wheels. The GT Plus variant comes with red callipers in the front. Inside the cabin, the new variants come with black leatherette upholstery. The GT Plus variant also comes with contrasting red stitching, while the GT Line has grey stitching. The top-spec Taigun GT Plus comes equipped with red GT logos and aluminium pedals. VW is also offering an introductory offer of a complimentary four-year Service Value Package (SVP).   The Volkswagen Taigun Sport GT Line variant is powered by a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder TSI petrol engine that churns out a maximum power output of 114bhp and a peak torque of 178Nm. The GT Plus is equipped with a 1.5-litre TSI Petrol engine that produces 148bhp and 250Nm of torque. A six-speed manual gearbox is offered as standard. While the GT Line variant is equipped with a six-speed torque convertor automatic, the GT Plus comes with a seven-speed twin-clutch DSG. Skoda Auto Volkswagen India unveiled its all-electric ID.4 in the country during its annual conference. This is not the first time that the brand is showcasing ID.4. It was previously shown at the Delhi Auto Expo in 2020 and at the brand conference in 2023. It is believed that ID.4 is expected to hit the Indian market later this year. Upon launch, this will become the brand’s first electric vehicle available for purchase. Apart from this, Volkswagen also introduced its latest lineup of vehicles for Indian customers, including variants like the Taigun GT Plus Sport and GT Line, and the Virtus GT Plus Sport Concept. From the design perspective, the ID.4 showcases a distinctive appearance, characterized by slim headlights connected by a thin black strip. Its overall profile highlights numerous curves. Depending on the trim, the vehicle will offer a choice between 19 or 20-inch wheels. Internationally, the Volkswagen ID.4 comes in various configurations, including a variant with an all-wheel drive system. It features amenities such as all-LED lighting, 3-zone climate control, heated seats, wireless charging, a panoramic sunroof, a 12-inch infotainment system with smartphone connectivity and navigation, along with several driver assistance features. Volkswagen ID.4: Battery Details Internationally, the ID.4 is available in both single-motor and dual-motor configurations. The entry-level trim can generate 168 bhp of maximum power, while the ID.4 Pro boasts 282 bhp and the GTX variant offers 334 bhp. Equipped with the larger 77 kWh battery pack, the ID.4 Pro achieves a range of 550 kms (WLTP), whereas versions with the smaller 52 kWh battery pack have a range of 342 kms (WLTP). The specific variants of the ID.4 to be offered in India have not yet been confirmed. Volkswagen ID.4: Pricing and Rivals Although there is no confirmation about the pricing, expect it to be priced between Rs 50 to Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The ID.4 will challenge the upcoming Skoda Enyaq, Kia EV6, Volvo XC40 Recharge, and Hyundai Ioniq 5 in its segment.
