Volkswagen Taigun Facelift Spied Again

Volkswagen has started testing the mid-life facelift of the Taigun, also known as the T-Cross in other markets. While the Taigun has been already spotted testing in Europe, latest spy shots reveal the upcoming SUV being tested in Brazil. The facelifted Taigun is expected to offer a fresh design and an updated feature list including the addition of ADAS-features. We take a closer look at the new images. Volkswagen Taigun Facelift: Exterior Design Even though the test mule’s front and rear end is clad in heavy camouflage, there are still some design elements visible. The Taigun Facelift is believed to offer a new horizontal-slat front grille while the VW logo is now positioned slightly above on the grille. The headlights seem to be updated as well. Reports suggest that the new Taigun will get VW’s latest IQ headlight tech which is an intelligent system that controls the lighting with a sensor and camera to detect oncoming traffic. There will also be a redesigned bumper with updated fog lamp inserts and air dam. Talking about the side profile, it more or less remains unchanged. Towards the rear, the SUV will provide reprofiled tail lights and a bumper. Volkswagen Taigun Facelift: Interior features Inside, the facelifted compact SUV is likely to get an updated interior theme with new colours for the dashboard and upholstery. The current model already comes packed with features like a 10-inch infotainment system, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, ventilated front seats, auto climate control, electric sunroof, push-button start/stop, and more. Besides these, the company is expected to add even more equipment to the already exhaustive list to bring it in line with its rivals. The biggest update is believed to be the inclusion of ADAS-Tech like Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Forward Collision Warning and Adaptive Cruise Control.  Volkswagen Taigun Facelift: Powertrain Details The upcoming SUV is expected to continue with the existing powertrain options in India. The first option is a 1-litre TSI turbocharged petrol that makes 114 bhp with 178 Nm of peak torque. Volkswagen Starts Work On New Entry Level EV

Volkswagen has started development on a new entry-level EV that will be positioned below the recently introduced ID 2 electric hatchback. Dubbed the ID 1, the new EV will be the smallest model in the automaker’s pure electric vehicle lineup.  Volkswagen ID 1: What We Know So Far The ID 1 will be based on VW’s new MEB First FWD platform. It will be one of four models - the Cupra Urban Rebel, ID 2 and an entry-level Škoda model - to be underpinned by the new platform. The architecture allows for lithium-iron-phosphate batteries which are more cost effective, helping reduce production costs. VW recently revealed a new sketch that gives us a hint at what the ID 1 will look like. The electric hatchback has a muscular design with an angular front end and features signature ID elements like the horizontal front light bar. The designers wanted to give the ID 1 a futuristic look to highlight the digital functionality aspect of the EV, helping to attract younger buyers. Slated to launch in 2026, the ID 1 will be similar in size to the current-gen Polo (not sold in India). The new model could end up taking the nameplate in the future similar to VW plans to use the Golf and Tiguan monikers for upcoming EVs. Volkswagen ID 1: Powertrain Details VW is likely to offer the ID1 with a 57 kWh battery pack powering a single front-mounted electric motor that would make 243 bhp of power. While the brand did not reveal any specification details, it is expected to have around 402 kms of range on a single full charge. The new powertrain will be a big step forward from the current setup in the e-Up, which the ID 1 will effectively replace. Read Also: Volkswagen Launches Tiguan Exclusive Edition in India
