Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus Get GT Plus Sport Variants

Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus Get GT Plus Sport Variants

Volkswagen's recent Annual Press Conference has stirred excitement amongst its fans. The brand introduced new GT variants for the Virtus and Taigun. Building upon the existing GT lineup, these additions are now categorized under Chrome, Sport, and Edge trims. Each variant boasts unique colour treatments: sleek blacked-out inserts define the Sport, while chrome accents distinguish the Chrome trim, and exclusive hues adorn the Edge. Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus GT Plus Chrome The German automaker has given chrome treatment across the entire range. It incorporates chrome inserts into the exterior design of the Taigun. Instead of blacked-out headlights, the vehicle features numerous glossy chrome elements on the grille, bumper, roof rails, and alloy wheels. Besides, it maintains the familiar appearance of the Taigun and Virtus models that we often see on our roads. Regarding powertrains, these Chrome trims are offered with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine in the GT Plus and GT variants, while the 1-litre turbo-petrol engine is reserved for the Topline, Highline, and Comfortline variants. Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus GT Sport Previously, the GT designation was exclusive to vehicles equipped with 1.5-litre engines. However, the brand has broadened the appeal of GT variants by introducing the option of a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine within the GT Line under the Sport trim. In terms of appearance, the Sport trim features blacked-out elements to the headlights, grille, bumper and roof rails. It also gets red brake callipers. Then there is an all-black interior with red contrast stitching. This treatment is available with both the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines in the GT Plus variants and the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engines in the GT Line trims. Apart from this, GT Line and GT Plus Sport versions showcase subtle visual changes. While both feature black accents, the addition of red inserts is exclusive to the Sport variants. The GT Line is distinguished solely by its 'GT Line' badging on the fender and tailgate, yet it does boast an all-black interior with red accents. Similarly, the Virtus GT Plus Sport follows suit, adopting black elements instead of chrome inserts like the Taigun. However, it is important to note that the Virtus GT Plus Sport remains a concept, with its production-ready version anticipated to debut in the latter half of 2024. Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus GT Edge The GT Edge treatment is offered in both the Sport and Chrome trims. It maintains its exclusive Matte Edition and Deep Black Pearl hue options. These are compatible with both engine choices available for the Taigun. With the introduction of new variants for the Taigun next month, we anticipate minimal changes in pricing, as these trims essentially remain unchanged, now merely categorized differently with distinct cosmetic features. However, the entry point into the GT variants will become more affordable, thanks to the availability of the 1-litre engine in the GT Line. Regarding the new Virtus GT variants, their launch is scheduled for the latter part of this year. Presently, the Taigun’s price starts from Rs 11.69 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Virtus begins at Rs 11.55 lakh (ex-showroom). Also Read: Upcoming Maruti Suzuki Dzire Spied Again
