Taigun facelift gets sportier design and new features. New 8-speed automatic gearbox introduced with 1.0L engine.
The new 2026 Volkswagen Taigun facelift has recently made its India debut with refreshed styling, more features and a new 8-speed automatic transmission. Pre-bookings are already underway, and its launch is expected within the next couple of months. Aiming to offer a more well-rounded package, the carmaker has introduced noticeable upgrades inspired by the Tyron R-Line. Let’s take a look at how the new Taigun is different from the pre-facelift model.
The front fascia of the SUV now looks sportier and more appealing than before. It features a newly-designed and slimmer grille, redesigned LED headlamps connected by a LED DRL strip, a revised bumper with chrome inserts and a skid plate. The design shares a great resemblance with the Tayron R-Line.
Except the newly-designed 17-inch alloys, the side profile remains largely unchanged. The rear section has been revised with new connected LED taillamps with sequential turn indicators, a tweaked bumper and a revised tailgate design.
The updated VW Taigun lineup also receives two new exterior colour options – Avocado Pearl and Steel Grey. Other paint schemes have been carried over including Candy White, Carbon Steel Matte, Wild Cherry Red, Deep Black, Lava Blue and Reflex Silver.

Unlike the pre-facelift Taigun, the facelifted model offers a larger infotainment system and instrument console with improved graphics, updated software and AI-based integration. The infotainment unit now provides access to real-time information along with enhanced voice controls and hands-free functionality. The 2026 Volkswagen Taigun facelift now offers a larger panoramic sunroof, wireless smartphone connectivity, ambient lighting and rear seats with massage function.
The biggest mechanical upgrade comes in a form of a new 8-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox, which is exclusively offered with the 1.0L TSI petrol engine. The updated lineup continues to use the 1.0L and 1.5L turbo petrol engines, and the latter is available only with a 7-speed DCT gearbox.
