Hyundai reported its highest ever sales for the month of April Mahindra reported 8 per cent sales growth
Automakers have started releasing their sales numbers for the month of April 2026. Despite the global crisis due to the US-Iran war, the Indian auto industry witnessed positive sales growth. Maruti Suzuki retains the top-spot, while Hyundai recorded its highest-ever domestic sales for the month of April.
Mahindra & Mahindra has reported domestic SUV sales of 56,331 units in April 2026, registering a year-on-year sales growth of 8 per cent. Its overall auto sales including exports rose 14 per cent other than 94,627 units. In the Utility Vehicle segment, Mahindra sold 57,833 vehicles, including exports.
Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said, “the year 2027 has begun on a positive note in April by achieving SUV sales of 56,331 units, a growth of 8 per cent and total vehicle sales of 94,627 units, a 14 per cent growth over the same month last year.”

Hyundai Motor India Limited begins its FY2027 on a strong note, as it registered its highest-ever domestic sales for the April month. The company sold 51,902 units in April 2026 as against 44,374 units in the same month last year, positing a YoY sales growth of 16.96 per cent. The brand’s total sales stood at 65610 units last month as against 60774 units in April 2025, registering a year-on-year sales growth of 7.96 per cent.
While Hyundai’s domestic sales witnessed healthy growth, its exports declined by 16.41 per cent to 13,708 units from 16400 units in April 2025. The brand’s domestic sales saw a MoM decline of 5.74%, as it sold 55,064 units in March 2026.
The Hyundai Venue has been a major contributor to the brand’s sales. The compact SUV has recorded its highest-ever monthly domestic sales of 12,420 units. Hyundai also claims that the series of product interventions and launch of updated models and new variants, like Exter, Verna, Creta Summer Edition, Grand i10 Nios Vibe Edition and Venue Knight Edition have contributed to sustaining demand.

Kia India has registered its highest-ever April sales since entering the Indian market. The company sold a total of 27,286 vehicles in April 2026 as against 23,623 units in the same month last year, reporting a year-on-year sales growth of 15.51%. However, the brand has reported a 6.27% decline in MoM sales, as it had dispatched 29,112 vehicles in March 2026.
The Kia Seltos remains the brand’s best-selling model. The company claims that both Kia Seltos and Sonet crossed the 10,000 unit monthly sales mark. On a YTD basis, Kia India sold 111,611 units as against 99199 units in the same period last year, registering a 13% growth.

MG Motor India has registered a 3 percent YoY sales growth in April 2026. The company sold 6018 units in April, despite the challenges posed by the ongoing West Asia crisis. The war has disrupted global supply chains and dampened consumer sentiment, leading to softer overall demand in the automotive market.
The company is set to launch the MG Majestor in May 2026. The first 3,000 customers can avail the exclusive “Complete-Peace-of-Mind” program by pre-booking the SUV at INR 41,000. The unique 5-5-5 program offers 5 Year Unlimited KM Warranty, 5-Year Roadside Assistance and 5 Labour-Free Services-— ensuring a truly worry‑free ownership experience.

Renault India has started FY2027 on a strong note, registering an impressive YoY sales growth of 108 per cent in April 2026. The company recorded total domestic wholesales of 5,413 units, more than doubling from 2,602 units sold in April 2025.
The company has been registering double-digit growth since the launch of the new-gen Renault Triber and Kiger in September 2025. Adding to this momentum, the newly launched Renault Duster has received strong market response, with demand picking up in the very first week of the commencement of deliveries in the later part of April.
Responding to this continuous robust growth in demand, the carmaker has been expanding its network, recently it opened a new’R store and a workshop in Ranchi. The total sales and service touch points have increased to 638.
