Honda confirms New HONDA HYBRID Engine, debut in 2027 New EV and sub-4 meter SUV to arrive in India
At the launch of the Elevate facelift, Honda Cars India has confirmed plans to introduce multiple new SUVs in the country by 2030. The company had earlier announced to expand its portfolio in the Indian market to more than 10 products by 2030. Honda has also announced that its next-generation hybrid powertrain will also arrive in our market. The company is aiming to launch new SUVs, electric vehicles, hybrid powertrains and the next generations of existing sedans - the City and Amaze.
The company has confirmed that its first electric SUV based on the 0 ALPHA EV concept will be launched in the Indian market in 2027. Adding to it, a new sub-4 meter SUV will join the Honda line-up by 2028. This sub-4 meter SUV will rival the likes of the Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, and others in the category.
Not just pure EVs, Honda has also confirmed plans of introducing new hybrid system in India. Honda will introduce the next-generation hybrid system in 2027, and the same will arrive in our market. The next generation hybrid system is called “Honda Hybrid”, which is officially announced to arrive globally in early 2027. Honda has also announced to launch 15 next-generation hybrid models equipped with Honda Hybrid globally by the end of fiscal year ending March 31, 2030, primarily in North America.
The next-generation hybrid models equipped with Honda Hybrid systems will be built on the newly-developed platform. Adding to it, new features such as a Motion Management System, original Honda integrated control technology, and a newly-developed electric all-wheel-drive system (e-AWD), will enable those models to deliver a high quality driving experience at the will of the driver.
Honda will introduce the next-generation City sedan and an all-new mid-sized SUV to rival the Hyundai Creta. These two models could be offered with the next-generation HONDA HYBRID. Moreover, the company is planning to introduce some of its global models, including the Prelude, CR-V and Civic as CBU/CKD units.
The Honda 0 Alpha based EV is confirmed to be launched in the first half of 2027, most probably around Bharat Mobility Global Expo. It will be produced locally at Honda’s Tapukara manufacturing facility in Rajasthan. The electric SUV is currently undergoing extensive road testing. Featuring Honda’s global “Thin, Light, and Wise” EV philosophy, the electric SUV will be based on the skateboard electric platform.
