Honda will introduce the 0 Alpha electric SUV as its first mass-market electric model for India and export markets like Japan. Featuring Honda’s global “Thin, Light, and Wise” EV philosophy, the electric SUV will be based on the skateboard electric platform.
Design and Styling: the SUV comes with a low-slung, aerodynamic design combined with high ground clearance to tackle Indian road conditions. Key design highlights include a flat display-style front fascia with illuminated badging, a U-shaped rear lighting signature, large glass areas, and 19-inch aero-optimised alloy wheels.
Cabin and Tech: the dedicated EV platform will allow Honda to offer spacious interior. It will feature a digital cockpit with wide-screen displays, LEVEL 2+ ADAS, connected car tech and a panoramic roof.
Charging & Range: the electric SUV is expected to deliver a real-world range of around 450 km-500km. The electric SUV will also support DC charging capabilities (15% to 80% in approximately 15 minutes).
Local Manufacturing: the Honda 0 Alpha EV will be produced locally at Honda’s Tapukara manufacturing facility in Rajasthan. The electric SUV is currently undergoing extensive road testing.
Honda has confirmed that it is developing an all-new sub-4 meter compact SUV, which is specifically tailored for Indian roads and customer budgets. The new SUV is reportedly to be manufactured with the help of Tata Technologies. It will be based on a new platform, which is reportedly to be co-developed by Honda and Tata Tech. Likely to be launched by 2028, the sub-4 meter compact SUV will be designed to take on the segment leaders such as the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 3XO and Kia Sonet.
The sub-4 meter compact SUV will serve as Honda’s volume driver to expand its market share in one of India’s largest automotive segments. This compact SUV is reportedly to be powered by Horse powertrains-sourced 1.2L turbo petrol engine, which will also support CNG and hybrid tech.
