Nissan to Launch a New 7-Seater SUV in India in 2027

Nissan's new three-row SUV is expected to launch in India in 2027 It will get a longer rear section, 18-inch wheels and connected LED tail-lights A 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine and ADAS features are possible

Nissan is preparing to expand its SUV lineup in India with a new three-row model, which is expected to launch in 2027. The upcoming seven-seater will share its CMF-B platform with the five-seat Nissan Tekton but will get a longer body, revised styling and space for a third row.

Recent test images have revealed several details about the SUV, including larger 18-inch alloy wheels, a redesigned rear section and connected LED tail-lights. The company has confirmed that a three-row SUV is part of its India product plan for 2027, although its name and full specifications are yet to be announced.

Nissan's New 7-Seater SUV: Design Details

The upcoming SUV will share its basic architecture with the Nissan Tekton. However, it will feature an extended rear overhang to accommodate the third row of seats. The wheelbase is expected to remain around 2,657mm, while the longer rear section should help provide additional cabin space. The test vehicle also features 18-inch alloy wheels with 225/60-section tyres, compared with the 225/55-section tyres on the five-seat Tekton.

At the front, the SUV appears to retain the Tekton's inverted L-shaped LED daytime running lights. The bumper, however, gets a revised design with vertical elements on either side. The rear receives more noticeable changes, including connected LED tail-lights and a number plate positioned lower on the bumper. These updates should give the seven-seater a distinct identity.

Could the New Nissan SUV Get ADAS?

The test vehicle appears to feature two millimetre-wave radar sensors in the front bumper. If these are carried over to the production model, the upcoming SUV could offer advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

The five-seat Tekton already offers more than 17 ADAS functions, including adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, blind-spot warning and traffic sign recognition. Nissan has not confirmed the safety features of the seven-seater yet. However, the radar sensors suggest that advanced safety technology could be part of its equipment list.

Expected Engine and Gearbox Options

Nissan has not officially announced the powertrain options for its upcoming three-row SUV. It could use the 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 163PS and 280Nm of torque in the Tekton. The engine is paired with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed wet dual-clutch automatic transmission. Whether Nissan will offer the smaller 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine in the heavier seven-seater remains unclear. A hybrid powertrain does not appear likely at this stage, although the company has not confirmed the final engine lineup.

Nissan 7-Seater SUV: Expected Launch

Nissan has confirmed that a three-row SUV is planned for India in 2027. The new model will expand the brand's SUV range and could appeal to those looking for a larger family vehicle. While it shares its platform with the Tekton, the extended body, revised design and potential ADAS features should help it stand apart. Pricing, the official name, variant details and launch date are yet to be announced.
