Nissan's new three-row SUV is expected to launch in India in 2027. The Alcazar rival could get a 161hp 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine. Seven seats will be standard, while a six-seat version could also be offered.
Nissan is preparing a new three-row SUV for India as it looks to expand its presence in the country's competitive SUV market. The new model is expected to arrive in 2027 and will sit above the recently launched Tekton in Nissan's India lineup.
The upcoming SUV will be locally manufactured and will take on the Hyundai Alcazar and other three-row SUVs in the segment. While it will share its base with the Tekton, Nissan is expected to make several changes to give it a larger and more premium character.
The upcoming Nissan SUV is expected to measure around 4.6 metres in length, with a wheelbase of approximately 2.7 metres. Nissan has confirmed that the model will have three rows and seven seats.
However, the company could also introduce a six-seat version with captain's chairs in the second row. This layout could offer more comfort for passengers, particularly on longer journeys. Although the new SUV will be related to the Tekton, it is expected to get major design and engineering changes. The larger dimensions should also provide more cabin and luggage space.

Nissan is expected to use a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine for the new SUV. This engine is likely to produce around 161hp and 280Nm. Transmission options could include a six-speed manual and a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Unlike some rivals that offer strong-hybrid powertrains, Nissan is not expected to introduce a hybrid version of the Tekton, and details about electrification for the upcoming three-row SUV have not been confirmed.
The new SUV will be positioned as a more spacious and premium alternative to the Tekton. Its three-row layout will make it suitable for buyers looking for additional seating capacity without moving to a much larger SUV.
Nissan could also focus on cabin comfort and equipment to compete more strongly with established models in the segment. The six-seat version, if introduced, could give the SUV an additional premium touch with captain's chairs in the second row.

The new seven-seater will be one of several upcoming Nissan products for India. The company is also expected to bring the Patrol as a CBU import in the near future.
Further ahead, Nissan could revive the Terrano nameplate with a larger SUV aimed at the Toyota Fortuner segment. That model could be offered with both internal combustion and plug-in hybrid powertrains.
For now, the new three-row SUV will be Nissan's key product for the mainstream family SUV market. With local production, a turbo-petrol engine and the option of seven seats, it will directly target one of India's most competitive SUV categories.
