The much-awaited Nissan Tekton mid-sized SUV has finally been launched in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs 10.49 lakh, ex-showroom. The SUV is available in 6 trim levels and two engine options. Interested customers can book the new Tekton online or at authorised Nissan dealerships by paying a token amount of Rs 21,000. It is based on the same RGMP platform that underpins the new Renault Duster.

Nissan Tekton Engine Options

The new Nissan Tekton is available with two engine options - a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol with a 6-speed MT and a 1.3-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol. While the former is capable of producing 99bhp and 166Nm of torque, the 1.3L turbo petrol engine produces 160bhp and 280Nm of torque. Transmission choices for the 1.3L turbo unit includes a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic unit.

It was speculated that the Nissan Tekton will come with petrol as well as hybrid powertrains; however, it is confirmed that the SUV won’t receive a strong hybrid engine. The SUV was earlier claimed to get the 1.8L strong hybrid powertrain from the Renault Duster. However, Renault intends to keep the strong hybrid engine exclusive to its own SUV lineup and has no plans to share it with Nissan India.
