New BMW X1 LWB launched in India at Rs 49.90 lakh. Gets 108mm longer wheelbase with improved rear-seat comfort. Offered with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine and 7-speed DCT automatic.
BMW India has launched the new BMW X1 Long Wheelbase (LWB) in the country at a starting price of Rs 49.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The new version joins the standard wheelbase X1 and the electric iX1 in BMW’s luxury SUV lineup.
The X1 LWB has been introduced with a focus on improving rear passenger comfort. With a longer wheelbase and increased cabin space, it offers buyers a more spacious alternative while retaining the compact SUV characteristics of the standard X1.
The biggest update on the new BMW X1 LWB is its extended dimensions. The SUV measures 4,616mm in length, making it 116mm longer than the standard X1. The wheelbase has also been stretched by 108mm to 2,800mm.
The additional length has mainly benefited rear-seat passengers. The rear seat cushion is now 15mm longer, while the extended wheelbase provides 109mm more knee room for occupants.
In terms of design, the X1 LWB gets subtle changes compared to the standard model. It features a chrome windowline, silver inserts on the door sills and rear bumper, along with the same LED headlamps and tail lamps. The SUV rides on 18-inch alloy wheels.
BMW is offering the X1 LWB in four colour options – Mineral White, Carbon Black, Night Dusk Blue and Skyscraper Grey.

The cabin layout of the X1 LWB remains similar to the standard version but offers improved space for rear passengers. The SUV comes equipped with BMW’s curved display setup that combines the digital instrument cluster and infotainment screen.
Feature highlights include a fixed glass roof, wireless charging, powered front seats and reclining rear seats. The SUV also gets a spacious boot with 540 litres of capacity, which can be increased to 1,700 litres by folding the rear seats.
The BMW X1 LWB is available with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine producing 154bhp and 230Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Unlike the standard wheelbase X1, the long-wheelbase version does not get the 2.0-litre diesel engine option. The diesel powertrain continues to be offered with the regular X1.
The new BMW X1 LWB will compete with other luxury compact SUVs including the Audi Q3 and Mercedes-Benz GLA.
