BMW M2 Turbo Edition bookings open in India. Gets 480hp, 600Nm and AWD. Features carbon fibre and retro styling.
BMW has opened bookings for the limited-run M2 xDrive Turbo Edition in India. The special edition brings exclusive styling details, a sportier cabin and an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, along with a powerful six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine.
The BMW M2 xDrive Turbo Edition pays tribute to the iconic BMW 2002 Turbo from 1973. It gets a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 480hp and 600Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. The special edition will be available in limited numbers, with allocations on a first-come, first-served basis. BMW is expected to announce its price in the coming weeks.
The BMW M2 xDrive Turbo Edition is powered by a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 480hp and 600Nm of torque. It is paired with an eight-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission and BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive system. The AWD setup helps the sports coupe accelerate from 0 to 100kph in a claimed 3.7 seconds. This makes it 0.3 seconds quicker than the rear-wheel-drive M2.
The top speed is limited to 250kph. Buyers opting for the M Driver's Package can increase it to 285kph. The combination of a powerful engine and AWD makes this special edition an interesting option for buyers looking for strong performance in a compact luxury coupe.

The special edition gets an Alpine White exterior finish with hand-painted BMW Motorsport stripes. The colour scheme takes inspiration from one of the two paint options offered on the original BMW 2002 Turbo. Other exterior highlights include a blacked-out power dome on the bonnet, a special 'turbo' emblem below the M2 badge and M stripes running across the bonnet.
The coupe also gets a carbon-fibre roof, tailgate and rear spoiler. Buyers can opt for 19-inch front and 20-inch rear M Performance forged alloy wheels finished in Gold Bronze. These details give the M2 xDrive Turbo Edition a distinctive appearance while keeping its overall design close to the standard M2.
Inside, the BMW M2 xDrive Turbo Edition features a number of sporty additions. These include carbon-fibre bucket seats, an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel and carbon-fibre interior trim. An exclusive 'turbo' badge is integrated into the centre cupholder cover, adding another detail that sets this edition apart from the regular model.
The cabin retains its performance-focused layout, with the additional carbon-fibre elements giving it a more exclusive feel. Some of the carbon-fibre components offered on this edition are also available as standard on the BMW M2 CS in India.
The new special edition takes inspiration from the BMW 2002 Turbo, which was introduced in 1973. It was the first series-production passenger car to feature an exhaust gas turbocharger. The original model used a 2.0-litre engine producing 170hp. It could reach a top speed of 211kph and accelerate from 0 to 100kph in 7 seconds, making it a quick car for its time.
One of its most recognisable details was the reversed 'Turbo' lettering on the front. The lettering was designed to appear correctly in the rearview mirror of the vehicle ahead, signalling that a fast-moving car was approaching. BMW has brought this unusual detail back on the M2 xDrive Turbo Edition, along with the white paint and Motorsport stripes inspired by the classic model.
BMW has opened bookings for the M2 xDrive Turbo Edition in India. The model will be offered in limited numbers, and allocation will follow a first-come, first-served process. The company has not announced the price yet. It is expected to reveal the pricing in the coming weeks. The M2 xDrive Turbo Edition is also the second special edition of the M2 to feature the xDrive all-wheel-drive system, following the 100 Jahre Nürburgring Edition. Bookings for the latter are also underway, with that model set to arrive in limited numbers. With its 480hp engine, AWD system and heritage-inspired design, the BMW M2 xDrive Turbo Edition adds another exclusive option to the brand's performance car range in India.
