BMW Concept 7 Protection Revealed With 603hp, Bullet-Resistant Armour

603hp plug-in hybrid powertrain with 800Nm of torque. Ballistic protection designed to withstand selected 9×19mm and .44 Magnum ammunition. Reinforced glass, intercom system and premium cabin features.

BMW has revealed the Concept 7 Protection, an armoured luxury sedan that combines high levels of passenger protection with powerful hybrid performance and premium comfort. Based on the BMW 7 Series, the concept is designed for customers who need additional security without giving up the luxury and technology expected from a flagship sedan. The BMW Concept 7 Protection features specialised ballistic protection, reinforced glass and a powerful plug-in hybrid powertrain. It also gets advanced safety systems and a range of comfort features for occupants.

BMW Concept 7 Protection: Bullet-Resistant Armour

One of the key highlights of the BMW Concept 7 Protection is its BMW Protection Core, which combines protective materials and specially developed structural components to improve occupant safety. The sedan uses reinforced ballistic glass and protective steel and fibre-composite materials. BMW has also added protection beneath the panoramic roof to improve coverage across the passenger compartment. The armoured construction is designed to withstand selected ammunition, including 9×19mm rounds and .44 Magnum ammunition. This makes the Concept 7 Protection suitable for customers who require a higher level of security while travelling.

BMW Concept 7 Protection Gets 603hp Hybrid Powertrain

The BMW Concept 7 Protection uses a plug-in hybrid powertrain based on the BMW M760e xDrive. It combines a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six petrol engine with an electric motor. The petrol engine produces 420hp, while the electric motor delivers an additional 194hp. The combined system output stands at 603hp and 800Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission and BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive system. This setup is designed to deliver strong performance while managing the additional weight associated with the armoured construction.

Premium Cabin With Advanced Technology

Despite its protective construction, the BMW Concept 7 Protection focuses on maintaining the comfort expected from a luxury sedan. The cabin features a premium layout and technology designed to support occupants during their journeys. BMW has also equipped the concept with an intercom system, allowing occupants to communicate with people outside the vehicle without opening the doors or windows. An attack alarm system is included to alert occupants to potential security threats. Optional comfort equipment includes a rear-seat table, wireless charging and a cool box, adding to the sedan's luxury appeal.
