BMW X1 LWB will launch in India on August 21, 2026. It gets a 156bhp 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with a 7-speed DCT. The long-wheelbase SUV offers 109mm more rear knee room.
BMW is set to launch the new X1 LWB in India on August 21, 2026. The long-wheelbase version will join the existing X1 range as a new petrol-powered option. The X1 LWB will be offered in a single sDrive18i M Sport variant. It gets a longer body, more rear-seat space and several premium features.
The new BMW X1 LWB will make its India debut on August 21. It will become the third addition to the X1 range in India. BMW currently offers the standard X1 with a diesel engine, while the electric iX1 LWB is also available. The new model will add a petrol option to the lineup.

The BMW X1 LWB will use a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 156bhp and 230Nm. The engine will be paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and will send power to the front wheels. Compared with the standard-wheelbase petrol X1, the new model gets 22bhp more power. The torque output remains unchanged at 230Nm.
The biggest change in the X1 LWB is its longer dimensions. It is 116mm longer overall, while the wheelbase has increased by 108mm. The extra length has been used to create more space for rear passengers. The rear seats get an additional 15mm of cushion length and 109mm of knee room. This should make the X1 LWB a more comfortable option for buyers who regularly travel with passengers in the second row.
The X1 LWB will come with several premium features. These include adaptive LED headlights, powered front seats with memory function, a panoramic glass roof and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. It will also get BMW Park Assist Plus, Level 2 ADAS, dual-zone climate control with rear AC vents, Digital Key and a powered tailgate.
Safety equipment includes eight airbags. The SUV will also come with BMW's Digital Premium Apps package, which will be free for the first three months.
BMW will offer the X1 LWB in a single sDrive18i M Sport trim at launch. The combination of a petrol engine, longer wheelbase and additional rear-seat space is expected to make the X1 LWB an attractive option for luxury car buyers looking for a more spacious compact SUV.
More details, including the price, will be announced at the India launch on August 21.
