Mercedes AMG E53 PHEV

Mercedes-Benz India has launched the new AMG E53 PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) in the country at a price tag of Rs 1.45 crore, ex-showroom. It is powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbo engine paired with a 28.6 kWh battery pack,  and accelerates to 100kmph from zero in just 3.8 seconds before hitting a top speed of 280kmph.

Key Features

The Mercedes-AMG E 53 looks sportier than the regular E-Class. It comes with several AMG-specific chassis upgrades, including extra bracing at the front and rear axle. The sporty model has an 11mm wider front tack and adaptive suspension with Comfort, Sport and Sport+ modes. In terms of design, the vehicle gets an AMG-spec front grille with illumination, a redesigned front bumper with larger air intakes and front fenders widened by 11mm. This AMG-spec model has a boot-lid spoiler, and a redesigned rear bumper with a blacked-out diffuser and four round exhaust tips. Adding to it, this sporty model gets AMG-spec seats with front seats gets power adjustment and an AMG steering wheel.

In terms of features, the AMG E53 PHEV gets a 14.4-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 12.3-inch digital instrument console, a Burmester sound systems, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree surround view camera, multiple airbags and others.

The new E 53 is available in six colours: Polar White, Verde Silver, Obsidian Black, Nautical Blue, Velvet Brown and Graphite Grey Metallic.

Mercedes AMG E53 PHEV Specifications

The new E 53 Hybrid 4Matic+ is powered by a 3.0-litre turbocharged 6-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor for a combined power and torque output of 577 bhp and 750 Nm, respectively. It has a 21.2 kWh battery, which offers an electric-only range of over 100 km at speeds of up to 140 kmph. The battery can be charged from 0-100% in around 20 minutes using a 60 kW DC fast charger.

Customers can also opt for the AMG Dynamic Plus Package, which increases the power output to 604 bhp. The sedan accelerates to 100kmph from standstill in 3.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 280 kmph.

Competition

The new Mercedes AMG E 53 will rival the Porsche Panamera, which is priced at Rs 1.79 crore.
