Honda City 2026 Facelift - Price Expectations & Rivals

2026 Honda City facelift expected from Rs 12.50 lakh, hybrid from Rs 23.57 lakh Base variants cost slightly more than Hyundai Verna, VW Virtus, and Skoda Slavia Hybrid e:HEV model offers over 26 kmpl and advanced tech features

The 2026 Honda City facelift is set to launch in India this week on Friday, May 22, 2026. Honda Cars India has already released official teasers and production units have started arriving at dealerships. The facelift will be revealed alongside Honda’s new flagship SUV, the ZR-V, and bookings are expected to open immediately after the official price announcement, with deliveries rolling out across the country by early June.

New Honda City - Expected Prices

The base petrol version of the facelifted Honda City is expected to start at Rs 12.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The strong-hybrid City e:HEV could start around Rs 20.50 lakh, with the top-end hybrid estimated at Rs 23.57 lakh. Experts expect a small increase of Rs 20,000-50,000 compared to the outgoing model to account for new styling and interior upgrades.

How It Compares to Hyundai Verna

The Hyundai Verna is cheaper, starting at Rs 10.98 lakh. This makes the base City roughly Rs 1.5-2.5 lakh more expensive. However, top-end petrol versions of both cars will be close in price, around Rs 18-19 lakh. While the Verna focuses on sporty driving with its 160 hp turbo-petrol engine, the City is aimed at buyers who want tech features like Level 2 ADAS, ventilated seats, and a more premium cabin.

How It Compares to Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia

The Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia are entry-level sedans priced from Rs 10-10.5 lakh. The City costs more at the base level, but its top-spec CVT variants compete directly with the Virtus GT Line and Slavia 1.5L TSI. Unlike the stiff European suspension, the City is tuned for a smoother, more comfortable ride.

The Hybrid Advantage

The City e:HEV is in a league of its own. Priced at Rs 23.57 lakh, it offers fuel efficiency of over 26 kmpl. It doesn’t have direct competition among other sedans and instead competes with strong-hybrid midsize SUVs. The hybrid is perfect for buyers who want a fuel-efficient, high-tech, and comfortable sedan.
