5 New Toyota Cars Coming to India – Fortuner, EV MPV and More

New Toyota Fortuner could arrive in India by early 2027. Toyota is developing a three-row electric MPV for India. Land Cruiser FJ could join Toyota's India lineup by 2028.

Toyota is preparing a major product offensive for India, with several new models and updates planned over the next few years. The upcoming lineup will cover multiple segments, including hatchbacks, strong-hybrid MPVs, electric vehicles and ladder-frame SUVs. Among the biggest upcoming launches are the next-generation Fortuner, an electric MPV based on Maruti Suzuki's YMC and the smaller Land Cruiser FJ. Here are five Toyota cars to watch out for.

1. New Toyota Fortuner

The next-generation Toyota Fortuner is expected to be the biggest launch in this upcoming lineup. Test vehicles have already been spotted, with the new SUV expected to arrive in India around late 2026 or early 2027. The new Fortuner is expected to use an updated version of Toyota's ladder-frame architecture. It could get a more modern and boxier exterior, along with a heavily upgraded cabin featuring improved connectivity and additional safety technology. The 2.7-litre petrol and 2.8-litre diesel engines are expected to continue. The diesel could retain the 48V mild-hybrid system, while four-wheel drive and manual and automatic gearbox options are also expected.

2. Toyota Innova Hycross Facelift

The Innova Hycross facelift has already been spotted testing in India and could arrive in early 2027. The updated MPV is expected to receive a revised front end with a new grille and redesigned lighting elements. The cabin could also feature new trims and additional equipment. The mechanical package is likely to remain unchanged. The current 2.0-litre petrol engine produces 173hp, while the strong-hybrid version develops 184hp. The petrol model uses a CVT, while the hybrid gets an e-CVT.

3. Toyota Glanza Facelift

The Toyota Glanza facelift could arrive towards the end of 2026. The updated hatchback is expected to receive a more distinctive Toyota design, helping it stand apart from the Maruti Suzuki Baleno on which it is based. There have also been reports suggesting the possibility of new technology, including a strong-hybrid system and ADAS. However, Toyota has not confirmed these details yet. The current Glanza is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine and is also available with a CNG option.

4. Toyota Electric MPV

Toyota is also working on its own version of Maruti Suzuki's upcoming YMC electric MPV. The three-row EV is expected to use the Heartect-e architecture and could arrive in India around 2027-28. While the Toyota version is expected to share its underlying platform with the Maruti model, it should get its own styling and positioning. The electric MPV could sit below the Vellfire in Toyota's lineup and target models such as the BYD eMAX 7. It could become Toyota's most accessible three-row EV in India.

5. Toyota Land Cruiser FJ

The Land Cruiser FJ is expected to be Toyota's smaller and more affordable Land Cruiser model. Its India launch could take place around the end of 2028. The SUV is expected to use the IMV platform that also underpins the Fortuner and Hilux. Unlike the Fortuner, the India-spec FJ is reportedly unlikely to get a diesel engine. A 2.7-litre petrol engine producing around 163hp and 246Nm is expected, while strong-hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains could also be considered. The FJ could potentially be produced at Toyota's upcoming manufacturing facility in Maharashtra, although the company has not confirmed India-specific details yet.
