New 7-Seater SUVs Coming to India in 2026-27

Tata, MG, Kia, and Skoda preparing new 7-seater SUVs Upcoming models include EVs, hybrids, and performance SUVs India’s family SUV segment set for major expansion in 2026-27

The demand for 7-seater SUVs in India continues to grow as buyers look for more space, better comfort, and a stronger road presence.

Over the next couple of years, several carmakers are preparing brand-new three-row SUVs for the Indian market. Interestingly, the upcoming lineup will include everything from electric SUVs and hybrids to premium diesel and performance-focused models.

Brands like Tata, MG, Kia, and Skoda are all getting ready to expand their SUV portfolios with new family-oriented offerings in 2026 and 2027.

Here’s a look at some of the most exciting upcoming 7-seater SUVs expected in India.

1. Tata Safari EV

Tata Motors is preparing to introduce the electric version of the Safari SUV in India.

The upcoming Safari EV is expected to sit above the Harrier EV and Sierra EV in Tata’s electric lineup. It could become one of Tata’s flagship electric SUVs in the country.

The SUV is likely to use the 75kWh battery pack from the Harrier EV, although Tata may also introduce a larger battery option considering the added weight and space requirements of a three-row SUV.

Higher power output and an AWD setup, known as QWD in Tata terminology, are also expected.

2. MG Majestor

MG is preparing to enter the premium ladder-frame SUV segment with the Majestor, which will rival the Toyota Fortuner.

The SUV has already been showcased ahead of its expected launch and comes loaded with premium features and off-road hardware.

Some highlights include three differential locks, multiple terrain modes, panoramic sunroof, Level 2 ADAS, twin wireless chargers, and powered seats with heating, ventilation, and massage functions.

Power comes from a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine producing 213bhp and 478Nm, paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

3. Kia Sorento

Kia is also expected to bring the global Sorento SUV to India. Test mules have already been spotted on Indian roads.

The Sorento is more road-focused than hardcore off-road SUVs, but it promises a premium cabin, multiple powertrain options, and advanced features.

Globally, the SUV is available with a 1.6-litre hybrid petrol engine paired with an electric motor, along with a 2.2-litre diesel engine option.

The SUV is likely to appeal to buyers looking for a refined and feature-rich family SUV.

4. Skoda Kodiaq RS

Skoda is preparing to bring the performance-focused Kodiaq RS to India after recently updating the standard Kodiaq.

The RS version gets a more powerful 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 261bhp and 400Nm, paired with a 7-speed DSG gearbox and AWD system.

Skoda claims the SUV can accelerate from 0-100kmph in just 6.3 seconds, making it one of the quickest 7-seater SUVs expected in the market.

The India-spec model is likely to arrive as a CKD unit.

5. Wuling Starlight 560

The Wuling Starlight 560 has been spotted testing in India multiple times and is expected to launch under the MG brand in the future.

The SUV could eventually replace the Hector Plus due to its similar size and positioning.

One of its biggest highlights will likely be electrified powertrain options. The Starlight 560 is expected to launch first with strong-hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions, followed later by a fully electric model.

This could make it an attractive option for buyers looking for a large and fuel-efficient family SUV.
