New Safari EV Could Change the Game – Range, Power and Features Inside

Up to 600 km range expected AWD setup with strong performance Launch likely by end of 2026

Tata Motors is preparing to expand its EV lineup with the upcoming Tata Safari EV.

After the launch of the Tata Sierra EV, the Safari will soon join the brand’s electric portfolio. The new model is expected to arrive by the end of 2026.

A Strong Rival to Mahindra XEV 9S

The Safari EV will enter the premium electric SUV segment and take on rivals like the Mahindra XEV 9S.

Internally codenamed ‘Tayrona,’ the SUV will be based on Tata’s new acti.ev+ architecture, promising better performance and efficiency.

Big Battery and Long Range

Tata Motors is expected to offer two battery pack options with the Safari EV:

  • 65 kWh battery with around 500 km range
  • 75 kWh battery with up to 600 km range

The larger battery could support fast charging speeds of up to 120 kW, while the smaller one may support up to 100 kW charging.

Powerful RWD and AWD Options

The Safari EV is likely to be offered with both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive setups.

The single-motor version could produce around 235 hp and 304 Nm of torque.

The dual-motor AWD version may deliver up to 390 hp and 504 Nm, making it one of the most powerful SUVs in its segment.

With this setup, the SUV could go from 0 to 100 km/h in under 7 seconds.

Better Ride and Handling

The Safari EV is expected to bring improvements in ride quality.

It may feature a multi-link rear suspension with Frequency Dependent Dampers, replacing the current torsion beam setup.

This upgrade should offer better comfort and stability.

Feature-Loaded Cabin

Tata is likely to equip the Safari EV with several modern features, including:

  • Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging
  • Transparent chassis view
  • Auto Park Assist
  • Summon Mode
  • UPI-based DrivePay for charging and toll payments

These features aim to enhance both convenience and technology experience.

6-Seat and 7-Seat Options

The Safari EV could be offered in both 6-seat and 7-seat configurations.

Buyers will have the option to choose between a more practical layout or a comfort-focused setup with captain seats.
