Tata Safari petrol debuts with a new feature-rich Ultra variant. Gets a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with manual and automatic options. Expected to be priced lower than diesel versions.
Tata Motors is preparing to launch the petrol versions of the Harrier and Safari in India, and the big highlight of this update is the introduction of a new Ultra variant for the Tata Safari petrol. Positioned within the Accomplished trim, the Tata Safari petrol Ultra variant adds several premium features, many of which are seen on the Harrier EV, making the Safari petrol more tech-loaded than before.

The new Ultra variant brings a larger Harman touchscreen with Samsung Neo QLED technology, offering better clarity and a more premium feel. It also gets Level 2 ADAS with 22 safety features, improving overall safety. Another key addition is the VisionEX digital IRVM with a built-in dash camera and Dolby Atmos support.
Other updates include a sliding armrest, camera washer, built-in navigation with Alexa integration, memory ORVMs with auto reverse-dip function, and a new Oyster White and Gold interior theme. These upgrades make the Safari petrol Ultra variant one of the most feature-rich SUVs in its segment.
Powering the Tata Safari petrol is the new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol Hyperion engine. It produces 168bhp and 280Nm of torque and is offered with both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox options. This is a higher tune of the same engine seen in the Sierra. Tata Harrier petrol also gets the same engine and transmission choices. While official numbers are yet to be shared, the Tata Harrier petrol mileage is expected to be suitable for buyers looking for a petrol SUV with strong performance.
Tata Harrier petrol will be available in trims such as Smart, Pure X, Adventure, and Fearless, along with Dark and Stealth editions.
Tata Safari petrol lineup will include Smart, Pure, Adventure X+, Accomplished X, and the newly added Ultra variant, along with Dark and Red Dark editions.
Tata Motors has not announced prices yet, but both the Harrier petrol and Safari petrol are expected to be priced around Rs 1 lakh lower than their diesel counterparts. Once launched, the Tata Safari petrol will compete with rivals like the Mahindra XUV700, Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus, and other petrol-powered three-row SUVs.
