Just ahead of its launch, Honda Cars India has officially released a teaser for the 2023 City Facelift. While spy shots have revealed the exterior design of the sedan already, this is the first time that the brand itself has showcased the image of the upcoming model. We take a closer look.
Changes to the exterior of the Honda City Facelift are minimal and largely cosmetic. The sedan gets new redesigned bumpers while the front grille offers a slimmer chrome bar than before. The grille itself now gets a honeycomb pattern on the top-end trims and vertical slats on the lower variants. The side and rear profile stays the same as the outgoing model, except for the repositioned rear reflectors.
Inside, changes to the cabin for the 2023 Honda City Facelift are again minimal. It will however get added new features like a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, wireless charging, ventilated front seats, and more. The automaker is expected to introduce Honda Sense ADAS-Tech with the facelift.
The 2023 Honda City Facelift will be offered with a petrol or strong-hybrid powertrain only. The diesel option of the outgoing model will be discontinued due to the implementation of New BS6 Phase 2 Emission Norms that come into effect from April this year. Talking about the petrol powertrain, it will be a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated 4-cylinder motor delivering a maximum power output of 120 bhp with 145 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options would include a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic gearbox.
As for the City Facelift’s strong-hybrid option, it will use a 1.5-litre Atkinson-Cycle petrol engine which comes mated to an electric motor producing a combined power output of 109 bhp and 145 Nm torque. Transmission duty will be carried out by an eCVT automatic gearbox. Both powertrains have been upgraded to be compliant with RDE (Real Driving Emission) Norms and accept E20(ethanol) fuel.

Expect the 2023 City Facelift to cost around Rs 1 lakh more than the outgoing model’s Rs 11.87 lakh to Rs 19.87 lakh (ex-showroom) price range. Honda will also be introducing a new entry-level variant for both the petrol and hybrid models.
Upon launch, Honda City Facelift will compete with the Škoda Slavia, Volkswagen Virtus, the recently updated Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, and the upcoming Next-Gen Hyundai Verna.
