Maruti Suzuki WagonR has gained significant popularity in the Indian market since its introduction in 1999. Spawning three generations, the hatchback has amassed over 30 lakh sales. The WagonR has become a trusted choice in the entry-level hatchback segment for Indian citizens. The popularity of the four-wheeler is attributed to its unbeatable practicality, fuel efficiency, low maintenance costs, brand trust, competitive pricing and strong resale value. For those who are planning to buy a new car, here are a few reasons why Maruti Suzuki WagonR is the best choice in the hatchback segment in India. Its tall-boy design allows for a spacious and airy cabin, providing ample headroom and a comfortable seating position. In addition, the higher seating position and wide opening doors allow for easy ingress and egress. Moreover, the compact size of the WagonR makes it ideal for navigating through congested city streets and tight parking spaces. While the tall design of the WagonR offers practical advantages, some buyers may not find its boxy shape attractive. Also, the car’s exterior design may be considered less aggressive or less sporty compared to some other hatchbacks in the segment. Budget-Friendly Maruti Suzuki WagonR is quite an affordable option for first-time car buyers. Prices for the hatchback start at Rs 5.51 lakh (ex-showroom) and go up to Rs 7.42 lakh (ex-showroom). In addition, the frugal 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre petrol engines make this four-wheeler an ideal choice for daily commuting and long drives. On top of that, the WagonR has a strong resale value, which is another advantage for affordability. However, in order to maintain affordability, the WagonR may use basic interior materials. While functional and durable, the use of hard plastics and simpler upholstery may not provide the same premium feel as some other choices in this segment. These include Dual airbags, Rear Parking Sensors, ABS with EBD, Hill-Hold Assist, Electronic Stability Program, Speed Alert System, Child Proof Rear Door Lock, and more. While the WagonR offers essential safety features, it may lack some advanced safety technologies found in higher-end models or competitors. Advanced features like Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, or Blind-Spot Monitoring may not be available in the WagonR.
