10 Must Have Car Features Every Car Needs

Four-wheelers have become an irreplaceable part of our lives and as our needs have evolved, so has the list of must-haves. While these features were not talked about a few years back, living without them in this day and age may seem impossible to many. Whether you are navigating through the bustling streets or cruising down the open highway, Here are 10 Essential Features that Every Indian Driver Must Watch Out For: 1. Safety First It goes without saying that safety should always be at the top when buying a car. Besides high NCAP rating and airbags, make sure that features like the Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) and Electric Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) are present which are essential to wade through Indian roads. 2. Fuel-Efficient Engine Fuel prices are volatile and therefore, the engine’s fuel efficiency is a major consideration. According to your daily driving requirements, it is imperative that you select an engine that is geared towards optimal performance and economical at the same time. For instance, the recently launched New Maruti Suzuki Swift comes with the Z-Series petrol engine that is great for fuel savings and packs decent performance. Other cars from the house of Maruti include Celerio, Wagon R and Grand Vitara. Read Also: 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift Variants Explained 3. Infotainment System Having a lag-free and easy-to-use infotainment system enhances the whole driving experience. On top of that, if you get wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay with the unit then it is right on the money. The  Kia Sonet from Kia does a great job in this aspect featuring a loaded onboard infotainment system with an optional Bose sound system. The MG Hector comes with an i-SMART system with smartphone integration, music streaming and hands-free calling. Read Also: Top Features of Kia Sonet 4. Automatic Transmission Being the most populated country in the world, the same is true when it comes to road traffic. Using the clutch during stop-and-go traffic puts a lot of pressure on the clutch and may cause fatigue over time. Automatic transmissions like CVTs and AMTs help a lot in this case and are a godsend. For example, the Honda City comes equipped with a smooth-shifting CVT while Hyundai offers a range of automatic transmissions with the Creta compact SUV. Reverse Parking Camera And Sensors In a country where cars are more than the parking spots available, the reverse parking camera and sensor combination comes in handy during times when you have to deal with crowded and tight parking spaces. Additionally, a 360-degree camera takes things to the next level as it gives you an all-around view of your surroundings. Though some car manufacturers may not offer them together, you can always get them installed from the accessories section. It is always recommended to opt for OEM parts.  6. Keyless Entry and Push Button Start With keyless entry and a push-button start system, you will never struggle with the keys going missing and over-cranking the motor. These add a measure of comfort that transforms your driving experience by sparing you the tiresome process of using traditional keys for everything. Popular cars like the Swift come with keyless entry and push-button start. 7. Automatic Climate Control From the North to South and East to West, the Indian climate varies and calls for a strong temperature control system. Search for cars that come fitted with automatic climate control, enabling the unit to adjust the cabin temperature according to the weather and liking of the travellers.Cars like the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara feature automatic climate control. Adjustable Driver’s Seat Be it electrical or manual, the driver’s seat should be enabled for both height and steering reach so that an optimal view of the surroundings is visible. This helps the driver achieve the best driving position. The Toyota Innova Hycross MPV is a great example of the same as it gets an electrically adjustable driver’s seat that is also high on comfort and is equipped with ventilation too. 9. LED Headlamps Traditional halogen lamps may not be adequate for most of the roads in India, especially at night. The LED headlamps offer a great alternative to the halogens as they can illuminate the roads with great efficiency. Yes, they may take the costs higher but compromising on driving essentials is not acceptable. 10. Tyre Pressure Monitoring System Not a talked-about feature, the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System or TPMS keeps the air levels in check and prevents tyre damage over the course of time. The rubber is a part of the car that is always in touch with the roads and has to go through a lot of temperature variations and bumps. Thus, maintaining the right tyre pressure is important at all times. Read Also: All You Need to Know About Maruti Suzuki Cars

5 Reasons to Choose Maruti Suzuki Cars In India

Maruti Suzuki is a brand that needs no introduction and has earned a reputation for its reliability, affordability and efficiency during its over four decades of existence in India. Numbers are a testament to the same: the ‘Alto’ nameplate holds the title of the country’s most-bought four-wheeler, with over 4.5 million units sold in nearly 25 years.  However, there is more than meets the eye and you may wonder in the sea of car brands if the above mentioned were enough to crack the Indian automotive market. Let’s dive a little deeper to find out top reasons to choose Maruti Suzuki Cars in India. 1. Affordability The ‘affordability’ factor is at the forefront of Maruti cars right from the upfront cost to spare parts. As it is a mass-market brand, Suzuki can aggressively price their cars and offer discounts whenever possible. This becomes imperative to those who are considering a purchase only to commute from point A to B.  No wonder cars like the Alto, Wagon R and Swift sell like hotcakes. Even if something were to go wrong while you were on the move, repairs are fairly cheap and service centres widely present across the length and breadth of the nation.  Here’s a price list (as of May 27, 2024) of cars that Maruti Suzuki sells:  Arena Cars     Prices    NEXA Cars  Prices   Alto K10 Rs. 3.99 lakh to Rs. 5.96 lakh Ignis Rs. 5.84 to Rs. 8.11 lakh S-Presso                  Rs. 4.26 lakh to Rs. 6.12 lakh Baleno Rs. 6.61 lakh to Rs. 9.88 lakh Eeco Rs. 5.32 lakh to Rs. 6.58 lakh Fronx          Rs. 7.51 lakh to Rs. 12.86  lakh Celerio Rs. 5.37 lakh to Rs. 7.14 lakh               Ciaz Rs. 9.4 lakh to Rs. 12.29 lakh            Wagon R Rs. 5.54 to Rs. 7.26 lakh XL6 Rs. 11.61 lakh to Rs. 14.61 lakh New Swift Rs. 6.49 lakh to Rs. 9.50 lakh Grand Vitara        Rs. 10.7 lakh to Rs. 19.93 lakh Dzire Rs. 6.51 lakh to Rs. 9.39 lakh Jimny Rs. 12.74 to Rs. 14.79  lakh Ertiga Rs. 8.04 lakh to Rs. 13.03 lakh Invicto Rs. 25.21 lakh to Rs. 28.92 lakh Brezza Rs. 8.34 to Rs. 13.98 lakh     2. Low Maintenance With most of the cars occupying a spot in the budget segment, Maruti played it smart in the maintenance side of things too. As their Maruti Genuine Parts (MGP) components are affordable and available at their pan-India service centres, it becomes very convenient to get these services under one roof. Maruti customers also get a dedicated smartphone app to keep track of their service history.  You also have to appreciate the fact that for a manufacturer producing over 2.25 million cars, they take customer feedback with utmost seriousness and the overall rating from customers has been satisfactory. Savings in the long run, as a result, are on the higher side.  3. Resale Value Though at one point diesel iterations of cars like the Swift and Brezza were all the rage, stricter emission norms have led to their discontinuation. However, they remain to be in superb demand in the second-hand market because of the value proposition they promise. The same is true when it comes to demand for its petrol cars in a lineup that starts from hatchbacks to MUVs, offering a wide range of cars to choose from.  The Japanese are anyway famous for their reliability and Suzuki banks on that heavily, boosting the value of their products. It is always best to save on that upfront cost if you are getting a mechanically sound car.  Read Also: Maruti Suzuki Ertiga: Stands Out MPV in the Indian Market 4. Mileage Next up is mileage and Maruti Suzuki passes the test with flying colours. Additionally, the cherry on top is CNG and hybrid technology. Cars like the Alto K10 and Celerio in the petrol guise make 24.39 kmpl and 25.24 kmpl, while their CNG counterparts boast a fuel efficiency of 33.85 kmkg and 34.43 kmkg, respectively.  Because of such highly fuel-efficient cars in the lineup, buyers in this era of electric vehicles still prefer to opt for an ICE car as they are easy on the pocket and don’t have range and charging anxieties.  Read Also: Most Fuel Efficient Maruti Suzuki Cars 5. Trust and Reliability Finally, the trust of millions in owning a Maruti that will be reliable and easy on the pocket at the same time adds to the value factor. It takes real effort to establish that trust and dedication to maintaining that repute consistently.  With trust, you also get peace of mind and satisfaction from owning a Maruti. For any mass-market manufacturer to be so successful in a not-so-predictable market like India, Martui with Suzuki has the right recipe mix that resonates with the customers.  Frequently Asked Questions Which is the cheapest Maruti Suzuki car on sale right now? The Alto K10 at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 3.99 lakh is the most affordable car from Suzuki. Currently, it is the least expensive car you can buy in India.  Do Maruti Suzuki cars have good resale value? With the upfront cost already at the lower end compared to the competition, Maruti cars fetch great after-sales due to their exceptional value for money in addition to fuel efficiency and reliability. Why are Maruti Suzuki cars so reliable? The Japanese brand puts behind a lot of research and development before launching new cars and customer feedback is always taken seriously.
