New MG Hector vs Old: Detailed Comparison

MG Motor India introduced Hector as its first product in the country back in 2019. Post that, the SUV received cosmetic changes with new features additions in 2021. Now, MG has updated the Hector once more and introduced its facelift version at the recently concluded Delhi Auto Expo 2023. The facelift has received few changes to the outside and inside, however, it uses the same platform as the outgoing model. Are you wondering what’s new in the upgraded version of MG Hector? Here is a detailed comparison between the 2023 MG Hector Facelift and the Old Hector in terms of design, features, powertrain options, and more.

New MG Hector vs Old: Exterior Design

Hector

The latest and facelifted version of MG Hector gets a new front fascia which has been redesigned with a new large grille and bumper. According to MG, this grille is an “Argyle-inspired Diamond mesh grille pattern” which has a mix of piano black border and chrome. However, the DRLs and headlamps are positioned in the same place as the earlier version. Other changes are that the headlamp housing is finished in piano black and the air dam gets a chrome border instead of the brushed silver look.

Although there are no changes to the 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, some subtle upgrades have been spotted towards the rear. For instance, the brand logo is smaller on the New Hector's tailgate. There is a chrome strip running on either side under the two LED tail-lamps clusters. Its tail lights are connected via an LED strip. The rear bumper has also been reworked as it features dual fake exhausts. Further, the spare wheel is positioned under the SUV just like the outgoing Hector.

Further, there are no changes to the steering wheel but now the new Hector offers the ADAS suite. In terms of features, the four-wheeler provides an updated 360-degree camera display and its MG Assistant feature works via a set of voice commands for adjusting the temperature, ambient lighting, and so on.

New MG Hector vs Old: Safety Features

Another major feature added to the New Hector is ADAS technology which consists of Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Bend Cruise Assitance, and Lane Keeping Assist. The car can also detect pedestrians (only above four feet) due to the camera’s positioning. All this equipment was not there before in the vehicle.

New MG Hector vs Old: Powertrain Details

The 2023 MG Hector Facelift is equipped with the same 1.5-litre petrol engine that comes compatible with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. Note that the engine does not have mild-hybrid tech which was available earlier. In addition, the 7-speed DCT gearbox has been discontinued. Talking about the diesel engine, it remains the same 2.0-litre unit which can generate 168 bhp of max power output. It is offered with a 6-speed manual transmission like before.

New MG Hector vs Old: Colour Options

MG Hector was earlier offered in 6 colours; Havana Grey, Candy White With Starry Black, Starry Black, Aurora Silver, Glaze Red, and Candy White but now one more new Dune Brown paint shade has been added to the list.
