Discover Why Volvo is the Safest Car Brand in the World

Whenever we talk about safest car the first name pops up in our mind is Volvo Cars. This Swedish Car Brand has led the safety innovation game of automobiles for decades, making new and better benchmarks for others and raising the bar ever higher. Explaining What Makes Many Think that Volvo is the Safest Car Brand in the World: Safety-First Design Philosophy Safety is hardwired in Volvo’s DNA. From day one, the brand has designed its cars with safety principles as their number one priority, not as an add-on. This can be well explained by the somewhat boxy look of Volvo, which has placed the need for protecting the occupants above aesthetic reasons.  Innovative Features for Safety Volvo has invested in a long history of pioneering life-saving safety features that have become standard across the industry. In 1959, the company patented the three-belt seatbelt, but the company left the patent open and made it available to all vehicle manufacturers to use at no charge, a design that saved millions of lives worldwide. Over the years, Volvo continued to invent side-impact protection, whiplash protection, and advanced driver assistance systems. Thorough Testing and Validation For Volvo, safety extends beyond the design and engineering of its automobiles. It has a nerdy, ultra-modern safety research facility based in Gothenburg, Sweden, where it does extensive crash testing and simulations to prove that its cars can pass the highest standards of safety. The rigid testing process within Volvo allows them to know and solve any possible causes of safety failures way before such defects ever reach the marketplace. Impressive Safety Rating These safety focused results clearly show up time after time in the brand’s consistently impressive safety ratings. Its sedan and SUV’s regularly earn top scores from known groups dealing with highway safety, be it the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). A number of Volvo models have received the IIHS Top Safety Pick +, which is considered the highest title awarded by this body and Five Star Ratings from the European New Car Assessment Program (Euro-NCAP) Read Also: Top 10 Safest Cars and SUVs in India Advanced Safety Features Volvo tries to avoid accidents by using advanced safety technologies to protect occupants from the impact. These include several features in the following manner: Safety: This is a Volvo-developed technology, equipped with sensors and cameras. Certain conditions of collision with other vehicles, pedestrians, bicycles, or large animals  detect, and the system auto-brakes if in need. Pilot Assist: A driver aid technology advanced enough to combine adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assistance in supporting steering, acceleration, and braking systems. Run-off Road Mitigation: The system avoids unintended road departures by gently steering your car back on course. Road Safety Improvement and Commitment Not just making cars safe, Volvo has also taken an interest in safety in general. The company aims for zero casualty or a serious injury during a crash by 2030. In fact, Volvo believes that none of its cars should be involved in a crash by 2030. In an earlier commitment, Volvo had set a goal of making safer cars so that nobody should be killed or injured in any car by 2020. The company is really taking safety issues seriously. Conclusion In nutshell, it is Volvo’s commitment to safety right from the beginning, pioneering safety features, rigorous test and validation process, and sterling safety rating that have built up brand repetitions as the safest car brand in the world. As the automotive industry further evolves, without question, Volvo's commitment to safety will be a differentiating characteristic and a matter of pride for the brand and its loyal customers. Upcoming Cars and SUVs Launching in September 2023

It's festive season time and once again automakers have lined up a slew of new car launches for the coming months.  For the month of September, multiple brands are slated to introduce models across various body styles, price points and segments. Today, we take a look at the upcoming cars and SUVs launching in September 2023. Volvo C40 Recharge Volvo revealed the C40 Recharge in India a couple of months ago in June. Now, the brand is set to finally launch the new EV in the country on 4 September. Volvo’s second EV offering in India. It will be offered in a single, fully loaded trim level at launch. Powering the C40 Recharge is a 78 kWh battery pack that powers a dual-electric motor setup. It makes a combined 405 bhp with 600 Nm of peak torque. Volvo claims a fully charged range of around 530 km while the C40 Recharge can be charged from 10-80% in just 27 minutes using a 150 kW DC fast charger. Expect the C40 Recharge to be priced over its sibling, the XC40 Recharge. The latter is priced at Rs 56.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Tata Nexon Facelift Launching on 14 September, the new Tata Nexon facelift is arguably the most awaited launch of the month. With multiple spy shots and leaked images revealing its exterior and interior design as well as powertrain updates, the only thing left is the actual official unveiling by Tata. Tata's popular subcompact SUV will get a comprehensive update with a new squared-off and upright exterior design. The interior has been overhauled as well. Key highlights include a new twin-spoke steering wheel, dual 10.25-inch screens, a Haptic Touch climate control panel, and more. In terms of powertrains, the new Nexon will retain its petrol and diesel engine options. However, Tata will add a new 5-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox to its lineup. While prices are yet to be revealed, expect the new Tata Nexon to be priced at a slight premium over the current model, which ranges between Rs 8 lakh - Rs 14.60 lakh (ex-showroom). BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe M Performance BMW is gearing to introduce a new limited edition variant of the 2 Series Gran Coupe, dubbed the M Performance, on September 7. Changes will be largely cosmetic with M Performance parts like the grille, gear selector lever, and other M-specific parts. The exterior gets a new Black Sapphire colour while the interior gets a black and beige dual-tone theme. There will be no changes to the powertrain. It will use the same 2-litre turbo-petrol motor that makes 173 bhp with 280 Nm of peak torque as the 220i. Transmission duties are handled by a 7-speed automatic gearbox. BMW is highly likely to price the new 2 Series Gran Coupe M Performance over the M Sport Pro trim, which is priced at Rs 45.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The brand has already started accepting bookings for a token amount of Rs 1.5 lakh. Mercedes Benz EQE SUV Mercedes EQE SUV is slated to launch on 15 September. It will likely be offered in a single variant, namely the 350 4Matic. The EQE 350 4Matic uses a 90.6 kWh battery pack that is paired to a dual-electric motor setup. Combined, it pumps out 288 bhp with 764 Nm of peak torque. Being a premium SUV, the EQE will come packed with features. Key highlights include all LED lighting, flush-fitting door handles, ADAS suite, 360-degree camera, triple-screen dashboard setup, panoramic sunroof, connected car tech, ventilated and powered front seats, and more. The new Mercedes EQE rivals the BMW iX, Audi Q8 e-tron, and Jaguar I-Pace. Expect it to be priced similarly to its rivals, around Rs 1 crore - Rs 1.4 crore (ex-showroom). In addition to the above-mentioned models, September will also see the official price unveiled for the Honda Elevate and the Citroen C3 Aircross.
