Upcoming Cars and SUVs Launching in September 2023

It's festive season time and once again automakers have lined up a slew of new car launches for the coming months.  For the month of September, multiple brands are slated to introduce models across various body styles, price points and segments. Today, we take a look at the upcoming cars and SUVs launching in September 2023. Volvo C40 Recharge Volvo revealed the C40 Recharge in India a couple of months ago in June. Now, the brand is set to finally launch the new EV in the country on 4 September. Volvo’s second EV offering in India. It will be offered in a single, fully loaded trim level at launch. Powering the C40 Recharge is a 78 kWh battery pack that powers a dual-electric motor setup. It makes a combined 405 bhp with 600 Nm of peak torque. Volvo claims a fully charged range of around 530 km while the C40 Recharge can be charged from 10-80% in just 27 minutes using a 150 kW DC fast charger. Expect the C40 Recharge to be priced over its sibling, the XC40 Recharge. The latter is priced at Rs 56.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Tata Nexon Facelift Launching on 14 September, the new Tata Nexon facelift is arguably the most awaited launch of the month. With multiple spy shots and leaked images revealing its exterior and interior design as well as powertrain updates, the only thing left is the actual official unveiling by Tata. Tata's popular subcompact SUV will get a comprehensive update with a new squared-off and upright exterior design. The interior has been overhauled as well. Key highlights include a new twin-spoke steering wheel, dual 10.25-inch screens, a Haptic Touch climate control panel, and more. In terms of powertrains, the new Nexon will retain its petrol and diesel engine options. However, Tata will add a new 5-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox to its lineup. While prices are yet to be revealed, expect the new Tata Nexon to be priced at a slight premium over the current model, which ranges between Rs 8 lakh - Rs 14.60 lakh (ex-showroom). BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe M Performance BMW is gearing to introduce a new limited edition variant of the 2 Series Gran Coupe, dubbed the M Performance, on September 7. Changes will be largely cosmetic with M Performance parts like the grille, gear selector lever, and other M-specific parts. The exterior gets a new Black Sapphire colour while the interior gets a black and beige dual-tone theme. There will be no changes to the powertrain. It will use the same 2-litre turbo-petrol motor that makes 173 bhp with 280 Nm of peak torque as the 220i. Transmission duties are handled by a 7-speed automatic gearbox. BMW is highly likely to price the new 2 Series Gran Coupe M Performance over the M Sport Pro trim, which is priced at Rs 45.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The brand has already started accepting bookings for a token amount of Rs 1.5 lakh. Mercedes Benz EQE SUV Mercedes EQE SUV is slated to launch on 15 September. Electric Vehicles have been a growing market segment in India. As EV adoption becomes mainstream, more and more manufacturers are scrambling to find a piece of the billion-dollar market. Working towards this regard, Volvo Cars India has introduced a new electric model in India. The Swedish car manufacturer has just unveiled its second electric SUV product, the Volvo C40 Recharge in the country. This new EV will sits above the existing Volvo XC40 Recharge and offers a unique premium value proposition to its customers. Here are all the key differences between the all-new Volvo C40 Recharge and the Volvo XC40 Recharge. Volvo XC40 Recharge VS Volvo C40 Recharge: Design  In terms of design, both SUVs differ in their core philosophies. While one follows the conventional SUV design, the other breaks tradition with an aerodynamic and sportier silhouette. Up front both models feature an identical face with large bonnet, blanked off grille, swept back LED headlamp and signature ‘Thor Hammer’ DRL. While the headlight housing is the same, the C40 Recharge gets new pixel light detail which the XC40 Recharge misses out on. Moving to the sides, the differences between the two models is more evident. While the XC40 Recharge features a traditional SUV silhouette with flat roofline, the C40 Recharge gets a coupe-like sloping roofline which adds a sense of sportiness to the model. While both the cars measure identical for length and width, the C40 is shorter than the XC40 by 70 mm measuring 1582 mm in height. This means that the C40 offers better headroom at the front while the XC40 offers more head space at the rear. Taking about the rear, both SUV feature completely unique designs. While the XC40 gets a vertical tailgate with trademark tall taillights, the C40 features steeply raked windscreen with dual spoilers which compete the overall look of the car. So overall, both these models are similar yet different to each other in their appeal. In terms of boot space, the C40 with its coupe like roof-line offers less usable space compared to the XC40. While the frunk size remains the same at 31-litres, the boot space has gone down by 39 litres to 413-litres on the C40 Recharge. Expect for these changes, both cars come with a feature rich cabin that include Android-based touchscreen, wireless charger, panoramic glass roof, powered front seats with memory, dual-zone climate control and a premium Harman Kardon sound system. According to Volvo, newer and better battery chemistry along with the aero-dynamic design of the C40 has helped the company achieve higher range on model.
