German car manufacturer BMW has unveiled its most powerful M5 saloon yet. Underpinned by a brand-new platform, the upcoming car will also house a plug-in hybrid system with 717 bhp on tap. India launch is expected in 2025. 2025 BMW M5 PHEV: Exterior The M5 gets a partially closed illuminated kidney grille finished in gloss black. Further, the air intakes ahead have been enlarged and rear tracks made wider. At over 5 metres in length, it matches the standard 5 Series sedan. The M alloys pair at the front and back measure 20 and 21 inches, respectively.   2025 BMW M5 PHEV: Interior Similar to the 5 Series, M5’s cabin can be differentiated because of M-specific bits - leather flat-bottom steering wheel, hh ead-up display and sporty seats. Besides ambient lighting and a panoramic sunroof, BMW has partnered with Bowers and Wilkins for audio duties. Tailgate on this one is powered. 2025 BMW M5 PHEV: Powertrain Under the hood lies a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that is married to a plug-in hybrid setup, just like BMW XM sports utility vehicle. Out of the combined output, the ICE system alone is responsible for 80% performance - 577 bhp and 750 Nm. The electric motor and battery (22.1 kWh) adds 194 bhp and 280 Nm, taking the total to 717 bhp and 1,000 Nm. Electric-only range hovers around 70 kilometres and top speed is limited to 140 kilometres per hour.  Power is channeled to all four wheels via M Steptronic automatic gearbox, clocking the 0-100 kmph mark in 3.5 seconds (0.2 seconds slower than the outgoing model). Pre-Launch Bookings Open For BMW 5 Series LWB

After its India unveil last week, BMW has started accepting bookings for the BMW 5 Series Long Wheelbase. Slated for launch next month, the upcoming luxury sedan can be pre-booked at your nearest dealership or online at BMW Online shop.  As compared to the 5 Series, the extended length adds 145 millimetres to the upcoming car. Ground clearance, for that matter, has been increased in the India-spec car. On the outside, the iconic kidney grille has become larger with LED illumination around it. Unlike its China sibling, the ‘5’ on the C-pillar is not illuminated due to government norms.  The interior comes fitted with a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch instrument cluster. For the rear passengers, an 8K resolution display (31.1 inch) has been mounted on the headliner. BMW has stated that it will offer the 5 Series LWB with both petrol and diesel engines with a mild-hybrid system. There will be an 8-speed automatic transmission on offer with the mills.
