The much-awaited Tata Harrier EV will finally go on sale in the country today. In fact, Tata Motors has released a new video showing Harrier EV climbing the Elephant Rock mountain peak.
The video reveals several key information about the new Harrier EV including its possible range, off-road capabilities, drive modes and many more.
Tata Motors has already confirmed that the Harrier EV and Sierra EV will compete in above Rs 20 lakh segment in India. We expect the Tata Harrier EV to carry a price tag of around Rs 24 lakh to Rs 30 lakh. It will directly rival the Mahindra BE 6, XEV 9e and BYD Atto 3.
The Tata Harrier EV is expected to be offered with multiple battery choices, and the top-spec model could get a 75kWh battery pack. It will have dual-motor AWD set-up with multi-link rear suspension set-up. The electric SUV will come with several drive modes including vehicle’s off-road “Rock Crawl Mode.”.
The video shows the Tata Harrier EV’s digital instrument console, which reveals a range figure reading 525 km. This range shows at the 85% charging status. A quick calculation reveals that the Harrier EV will offer a range of over 610 kilometres.
The teaser also highlights ‘Rock Crawl Mode’, which confirms that the Harrier EV will come as an all-rounder. It will offer capabilities to tackle all kinds of roads including rugged and challenging Indian roads.
The electric SUV will be based on Tata’s new ‘acti.ev+’ platform, which has been derived from the OMEGA Arc platform. The Harrier EV features ‘Summon’ mode, which allows the drive to move the electric SUV forwards and backwards using the key fob. It also comes with vehicle-to-load (V2L) feature.
The Harrier EV will share the features the regular ICE-powered Harrier. It gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, powered tailgate and ventilated front seats. For safety and security, the SUV gets 7 airbags, a 360-degree surround view camera, hill hold assist, TPMS and LEVEL 2 ADAS tech.
