Kia Sorento India Launch on September 4 – Hybrid AWD, Diesel and AI Assistant

Kia Sorento India launch is scheduled for September 4, 2026. It will be Kia's first hybrid SUV with AWD in India. The Sorento will introduce Kia's Live Generative AI Assistant technology.

Kia India has released the first official images of the new Sorento ahead of its India launch on September 4, 2026. The three-row SUV has also started production at Kia's Anantapur plant, with the first locally produced unit rolling off the assembly line.

The Sorento will become Kia's first hybrid SUV in India and will be offered with all-wheel drive. It will also be available with a diesel engine, giving buyers two powertrain options.

Kia Sorento Production Starts in India

Kia has started production of the Sorento at its Anantapur facility in Andhra Pradesh. The plant has been a key part of Kia's India operations since production began in 2019. The locally produced Sorento will be positioned as Kia's new premium flagship SUV in India and will sit above the Seltos in the company's lineup.

Hybrid AWD and Diesel Powertrain

The biggest highlight of the Sorento will be its hybrid powertrain. It will be Kia's first hybrid SUV with AWD in India, combining an electrified powertrain with four-wheel-drive capability. The SUV will also be offered with a diesel engine. This gives customers a choice between hybrid and diesel powertrains based on their driving needs. Kia has not yet announced the complete India-spec power and efficiency figures. More details are expected closer to the launch.

New Kia AI Assistant

The Sorento will also introduce a new technology for Kia in India. It will get the Kia AI Assistant powered by Live Generative AI, which will make its global debut with the India-spec Sorento. According to Kia, the technology will allow more natural and conversational interactions instead of relying only on fixed voice commands. It can also provide access to real-time information, making the system more useful during journeys. The India-spec Sorento will therefore become the first Kia model globally to introduce this Live Generative AI technology.

Premium Three-Row SUV

The official images show the Sorento with a bold and upright SUV design. The exterior gets a wide stance and distinctive lighting elements, while the cabin is expected to offer a premium layout with technology-focused features. Kia is positioning the Sorento as a premium family SUV, with three-row seating and a focus on comfort, technology and space. The SUV will also expand Kia's presence in the premium three-row segment in India.

Kia Sorento India Launch and Bookings

The Kia Sorento will officially launch in India on September 4, 2026. Pre-bookings are already open through Kia dealerships and Kia India's official website.
