The Mercedes GLS is built on Mercedes' Modular High Architecture (MHA) platform. It is one of the highest selling SUVs across the globe in the company’s product portfolio. The GLS has been in production since 2006 and got its second generation update in 2013 while the third generation was introduced in 2020.
The Mercedes GLS has an appealing exterior design. The front of the SUV is dominated by a large grille with two parallel running silver strips. It is complemented by a Three-Pointed Star emblem in the middle. A sharp bumper and projector LEDs complete the look of the vehicle.
On the sides, we can see a long roofline and sculpted lines that build up towards the rear three quarters. Presence of 21-inch alloy wheels and flattened wheel arches provide this section a muscular feel.
Towards the rear, GLS gets a roof mounted spoiler, LED tail lights, a chrome strip, dual tone (body coloured and black plastic finish) bumper alongside twin chrome exhaust tips.
Interior: The Mercedes GLS Interior offers a dual tone (beige and black) colour theme. Its dashboard layout is clean and modern with a large infotainment screen that dominates the center console. The cabin provides high-quality ARTICO man-made leather upholstery alongside ventilated seats.

Safety: In terms of features, Mercedes GLS gets 9 airbags, Off-road ABS, blind spot assist, active brake assist, hill-descent control, a 360-degree camera with front & rear parking sensors, EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), ESP (Electronic Stability Program), traction control, active brake assist, hill assist and more.
Mercedes GLS price in India starts from Rs 1.32 crore to Rs 1.37 crore (Ex-showroom). There are a total of 2 variants - GLS 450 4MATIC and GLS 400D 4MATIC.
The New GLS comes powered by two engine options. First is an in-line 6-cylinder diesel making (330 bhp/700 Nm) whereas the other is a 6-cylinder, electrified petrol engine producing (361 bhp/500 Nm) of power and torque. Both engines are paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels via the Mercedes 4Matic system.
The Mercedes GLS measures 5207 mm in length, 2030 mm in width and 1838 mm in height having a wheelbase of 3135 mm. The car gets a large 90-litre fuel tank and 21-inch alloy wheels.
There are 4 exterior colour options available on the Mercedes Benz GLS. They include Polar White, Obsidian Black, Mojave Silver and Cavansite Blue.
The Mercedes GLS offers an ARAI Certified mileage of 10 kmpl in petrol and 12.5 kmpl in diesel with automatic transmission.
