The brand kicked off its entry in India with the Octavia model which was ahead of its time as it offered supreme build quality, unique exterior design, premium interior, space for its occupants, a humongous boot to carry a whole lot of luggage, great engine and performance. All these factors contributed to its instant success for the company.   Under the hood, the car was equipped with a 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine that was capable of generating 147 bhp of power output and 210 Nm of peak torque. During that time, only a few cars offered advanced features but in the case of Skoda Octavia it came equipped with equipment like ABS, ORVMs, dual-front airbags, power windows, and more. All in all, the performance, handling, and lower initial price made the Octavia win the hearts of Indian customers. Current Model Lineup At present, Skoda is offering three sedans and two SUVs for the Indian car market. These five models include Skoda Kushaq, Skoda Slavia, Skoda Octavia, Skoda Superb and Skoda Kodiaq. Prices for the Skoda cars fall in the range of Rs 11.29 lakh to Rs 39.90 lakh (ex-showroom). While Kushaq is the cheapest model with a price range of Rs 11.59 lakh to Rs 19.69 lakh (ex-showroom), the Kodiaq is the most expensive within the brand's portfolio that ranges between Rs 37.49 lakh to Rs 39.90 lakh (ex-showroom). According to the sales report of February 2023, the Skoda Kushaq was the best-selling model from the brand. 1783 units of this subcompact SUV were sold during the period. Skoda Slavia came in second as the sedan was able to sell 1274 units in the month of February 2023.  Upcoming Skoda Cars Skoda Auto is likely to expand its product portfolio in India. Next-Gen Skoda Superb To be Globally Unveiled on 2 November 2023

Skoda cars is set to officially reveal the next-gen Superb on November 2, with the brand sharing new sketches of the sedan ahead of its global debut. Interestingly, the new Skoda Superb will be launched in global markets by early 2024, while the company is planning to reintroduce the current-gen model in India soon. Next-Gen Skoda Superb: Fresh Design The new sketches reveal a few elements of the next-gen Skoda Superb design. It gets new, thinner L-shaped LED DRLs, headlights and a wider grille. The rear end features redesigned C-shaped LED taillights and an integrated spoiler. The new Superb’s design is in line with Skoda’s Modern Solid design philosophy, which will also be seen on the upcoming Kodiaq SUV. Next-Gen Skoda Superb: More Practical Interior Skoda has given the next-gen Superb a brand-new interior with better quality sustainable materials and upholstery. The dashboard is dominated by the 13-inch infotainment system and digital instrument cluster while the seats get massage and ventilated functions. However, the party piece of the new Superb interior is the three rotary dials with integrated screens in the centre console. The brand says that the two outer dials control the seat heating while the centre knob controls multiple functions like music volume, fan speed, driving modes, air conditioning, and zoom in and out of satellite navigation. Next-Gen Skoda Superb: Powertrain Options Globally, the Superb will be offered with three petrol, two diesel, and a plug-in hybrid powertrain options. A DSG automatic gearbox will be standard across all models. However, the brand is yet to release the official specifications of the powertrains. Next-Gen Skoda Superb: Launch in India Skoda is first going to relaunch the current-gen Superb in India, as the brand had confirmed earlier this year. The sedan was discontinued in April 2023 as it did not meet the new BS6 Phase-II emission norms. The automaker may sell both models of the Superb at the same time, something that other brands have done in India. The next-gen model will be coming to India as a CBU (completely built unit) and in limited numbers, meaning it will be more expensive than the current model and could be positioned above it in the market.
