MG Comet EV

MG Comet EV is the most affordable small electric car currently on sale in the country. The MG Comet is one of the most stylish and advanced electric cars that offers a perfect balance of comfort, features and onboard entertainment. The car was first introduced at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show as a concept vehicle and then put on sale in the international market as the MG Air EV. 

The 2023 Comet EV is built on a skateboard EV platform, which houses an electric motor, battery pack and other key components under the floor. This design allows for greater flexibility in vehicle design and enables the creation of both small and large electric vehicles.

MG Comet EV: Exterior

The MG Comet EV has a striking exterior design that catches attention on Indian roads. The new electric hatchback boasts a sleek and futuristic look, complete with the brand's signature star-rider grille at the front and sharp LED headlights on either side of the grille. This gives the car a sporty and premium appearance

The Comet EV's side profile features newly designed alloy wheels, a sloping roofline, and a subtle crease line that runs across the doors. This detail adds character to the car's overall design. Towards the rear, the car provides bold and angular LED taillights with a sporty bumper that bears a black diffuser.

The car also features a spoiler that adds a dynamic touch to the design. 

MG Comet EV: Interior and Features

Interior: The MG Comet EVs interior design is modern, spacious and tech-savvy. The use of a dedicated EV platform and clever packing has allowed the brand to maximize space on the inside despite the small footprint.

The car's cabin boasts a premium and luxurious feel, with high-quality materials and cutting-edge technology. What also helps the overall interior ambience is the use of light colour theme (Space Grey) for the dashboard and the upholstery.

Features: The MG Comet EV is equipped with a wide range of advanced features, including dual 10.25-inch full digital screens for both the infotainment and instrument cluster. Additionally, the car boasts connected car technology, an intelligent start/stop system, a rotary gear knob, and more.

Safety: On the safety front, the MG Comet electric car gets features such as IP67 rated battery, dual front airbags, ABS + EBD, reverse parking camera with sensors, speed sensing door lock, seat belt reminder both up front and towards the rear as standard.

MG Comet EV: Price and Variants

The MG Comet EV is priced at Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom) to 9.37 lakh (ex-showroom) in India, with a 5 variant available for purchase.

MG Comet EV: Engine and Specifications

The MG Comet's electric powertrain comes equipped with a 17.3kWh prismatic cell lithium-ion battery sourced from Tata Autocomp, which allows it a claimed range of 230 kms on the MIDC cycle. This system is mated to a permanent synchronous motor that is rated for a maximum power output of 42 bhp and peak torque of 110 Nm.

For charging it is claimed to get from 10 to 80 percent in 5 hours and all the way up to 100 percent in 7 hours. However, there is no fast-charging option available with this model..

MG Comet EV is available in 5 different colours namely Candy White with Starry Black, Apple Green with Starry Black, Starry Black, Aurora Silver and Candy White.

The MG Comet offers a company-claimed mileage of 230 kms on a single charge.

MG Comet EV: Rivals

There is no direct rival to the MG Comet EV in the Indian automobile market. However, the Tata Tiago EV is considered to be its main rival in the country.
