MG Motor has enhanced its Blackstorm series, extending it to other models as well. Earlier, the Blackstorm variant was restricted to the MG Astor, Gloster, and Hector only. Now, the MG Comet has also entered this special family, providing buyers with more alternatives in the Blackstorm series.
MG Astor Blackstorm edition debuted in 2024 and is now a crowd favorite among SUV lovers. Priced at Rs. 13.45 lakh (ex-showroom), this limited edition comes with a number of cosmetic enhancements such as an all-black honeycomb grille, black headlamps, and bumpers. Door cladding, roof rails, and door garnishes are also painted black. The special edition is shod on alloy wheels with a black finish and red brake calipers. The interior gets Sangria Red-themed AC vents and red 'Black Storm' embroidery on the front seat headrests. Astor Blackstorm edition features JBL speakers, Level 2 ADAS, and a digital car key.
MG introduced the Blackstorm edition of the Gloster in June 2024, and the Hector also got a Blackstorm edition, called the Hector Snowstorm. The Hector Snowstorm edition is priced from ₹21.53 lakh (ex-showroom), and Gloster Blackstorm edition has an even more premium version with enhanced features. These special editions introduce a new style to the MG brand.
The MG Comet EV has now become a part of the Blackstorm series, becoming the fourth model in MG's lineup to be given this special edition. The Rs. 7.80 lakh (plus battery rental) Comet EV Blackstorm comes with an all-black exterior and red accents. The black theme is used on the bumper, skid plate, side cladding, and even the wheels. The interior gets black seats with red embroidery and 'Blackstorm' badging on the headrests. The Comet EV Blackstorm also gets the same as the standard Comet, such as a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and manual air conditioning. Safety aspects include two airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, hill-hold assist, TPMS, and a rear view camera.
The MG Comet EV comes with a 17.3 kWh battery pack and has a range of 230 km on full charge. The electric motor delivers 41.42 bhp power and 110 Nm of torque. The battery subscription plan is also available, where buyers can pay Rs 2.5 per km for the battery rental.
