MG Astor

MG Astor is the only AI enabled SUV offering that is currently on sale in India. The Astor SUV, which has been a popular car in the Chinese market since 2019, was recently introduced in India as a first-generation facelift model. It comes with Level-2 ADAS and a personal AI Assistant on the inside, making it a unique offering. The Astor is built on SIAC's ZS modular platform, and its design and features are similar to those of the more expensive ZS EV available in India.

Design Highlights

The exterior design of the new MG Astor shares many similarities with its electric sibling, the MG ZS EV. Upfront the vehicle features a large celestial grille that extends outwards and is flanked by new hawk-eye LED headlamps. 

Lower down we have a muscular bumper with new fog lamp housings. Moving to the side profile, we see a strong character line emerging from the headlamp and merging well into the rear bulge alongside new 17-inch turbine inspired alloy-wheels and thick plastic on the lower sections of the doors. 

Towards the rear, Astor SUV gets new design LED tail lamps and a new diffuser with dual chrome exhaust tips completing the sporty appeal. 

MG Astor Interior and Features

Interior: On the inside, the MG Astor’s interior provides a feeling of spaciousness and luxury with its mix of rich materials alongside a large glass area. The sporty appeal of the exteriors continues to the cabin with a bold dual-tone sangria-red and grey colour tone. Furthermore, the centre console uses faux carbon fibre vinyl creating a unique sense of premiumness.

Features: The MG Astor comes equipped with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touchscreen display with the i-SMART system, a large panoramic sunroof, a personal AI assistant, a 6-way power adjustable driver's seat, and several other features.

Safety: The Astor is equipped with basic safety features such as 6-airbags, ABS with EBD, hill-hold control, hill descent control, TPMS monitoring, a 360-degree camera, all-4 disk brakes, rear parking sensors, e-park brake with auto hold function, and more. 

In addition, the car also provides segment first level-2 ADAS system with more than 14 features that include Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, auto high-beam control and auto emergency braking among others. 

MG Astor Price and Variants

MG Astor price in India starts from Rs 965000 and extends to Rs 1868800 (ex-showroom). It is offered in a total of 34 variants. Models are available in Style EX, Style, Smart EX, Smart, Sharp EX, Sharp, Super EX, Super and Savvy variants with the choice of two petrol engines.

Engine and Specification

The MG Astor offers two engine options: a 1.5-liter petrol engine and a 1.4-liter turbo petrol unit. The standard petrol engine delivers 110 bhp and 144 Nm of torque, while the 1.4-liter turbo petrol engine generates a maximum power output of 140 bhp and 240 Nm of peak torque.

The former engine option comes mated to either a 5-speed manual or a CVT gearbox choice while the latter is available with only one 6-speed automatic unit.

The MG Astor measures 4,323mm in length, is 1,809mm wide and 1,650mm tall having a wheelbase of 2,585mm. The car gets a large 48-litre fuel tank and up to 17-inch alloy wheels.

MG Astor Mileage

The Astor returns a claimed fuel economy of up to 15 kmpl based on the variant selected. 

Colour Options

There are 4 distinct single tone exterior colour options available on the MG Astor. They include Spiced Orange, Glaze Red, Candy White and Starry Black.
